Her eyes sparkled with devilish humor. I lunged for her, grabbing the hose, and spraying the water back at her. She squealed and I dropped the hose.

I kissed her. Her lips were cold and wet, and I devoured her. She consumed me. I lifted her up and carried her to the next stall so I could lean her up against the wall and thoroughly kiss her.

I would have taken her right there in the stall had Carter and Sophia not both howled for attention.

I dropped my forehead to hers. “Let’s go finish this in a bed.”

When she pressed her hand against my arousal, I closed my eyes, savoring the sweet pain.

She whispered huskily, “Gladly.” She leaned up to kiss me. “Let me get Betty Blue and Honey put away.”

I adjusted myself and went to the little devils squirming in their swings. “Mommy and Daddy need some alone time today. Do you want to go hang out with your grandpa, the cranky, old man who bought another house in town? I thought we were rid of him, but you two littles were too cute for him to leave. Let’s go punish him, shall we?”

I lifted them one at a time, and put them back in the baby carrier on my chest.

Camille was busy putting the horses back in their stalls so I waited for her outside.

With the babies on my chest, I felt like I could take on the world. A bright green butterfly flittered past me and landed on a fence post. The mountains rose in the distance, solid and unmoving.

Camille sidled up against me, and I looked down into her smiling face.

“Ready?” She asked.

I could only nod.

We walked hand in hand back to the house.

“I love you, Jacob,” she said, out of the blue.

I quirked my head toward her, and squeezed her hand. “I love you.”

As we made our way across the grass, she stopped abruptly,

“Oh, and by the way…”

I waited. “By the way?”

She looked hesitant.

“We’re having another baby.” She dropped my hand and started walking again. My mouth hung open.

I followed after her. “I swear, Camille, if its twins…”
