“I think we should add to the scandal.” He kissed the side of her neck and wound an arm about her waist.

“Oh, most definitely.

He worked a hand behind her and tugged at the laces holding her stays together then he pulled the garment out from underneath her. The creamy length of her in front of him was almost more than he could take. He yearned to take her then and there.

But he’d been wanting her for too long. He was going to savor this.

Clementine wrapped her arms about his shoulders and crushed her breasts against him and his fiercely aching manhood pressed into her. Her kisses skimmed her jaw, and she wriggled out from underneath him, her eyes flashing, turning him onto his back. She could have no idea how stunning she looked with coppery curls touching her bare, freckled shoulders.

She urged him to relax back with a hand and kissed his chest, her lips tickling down the plane of his stomach. He fought the urge to thrust. She kissed lower still, apparently determined to kiss everywhere apart from the one place that Roman so desperately wanted her to.

Clementine Musgrave really was a scandalous woman. And he was loving every moment of it.

He gritted his teeth as Clementine undid his trousers and drew them down and off. He didn’t remember when he’d kicked off his shoes, but he must have done. Loose hair brushed over him, and he jerked with a moan. She kissed his hips and inner thighs then he felt her smile against him and then suddenly the heat of her mouth was wrapped about him, sucking desperately. Roman hissed out a breath and stared down at her. Her eyes met his, a satisfied glint in them, and he knew he’d never seen anything more sensual.

His control close to breaking point, he tore her from him and hauled her to her feet. Clementine squealed in surprise as he picked her up and placed her on the washstand. He claimed her mouth, coaxing her to draw her legs about his hips. Arms wrapped about her, he held her secure in his embrace.

Her sweet heat beckoned, and he explored her entrance as she bucked against him. With a curse and one swift plunge, he filled her to the hilt, drawing a sharp cry from her. The feeling of her clenching around him shuttered out any common sense and the realization of having just found his soulmate tore painfully at his heart.

The world came into focus slowly as they both adjusted to the feel of each other, and he noted Clementine’s awestruck expression.

“Are you well?” he asked, his voice graveled.

“No…no…” She smiled softly. “I mean yes. It’s just…”

He nodded. “I know.” She felt the same as he did—like they were two sides to the same coin. They completed one another. It hadn’t taken making love to her to make him realize that, but it had brought the realization into sharp relief.

Clementine gripped his neck, pulling him closer. He plunged slowly at first, but it was not long until his need for her overtook him once more and he began to rock faster, taking her harder and deeper with each thrust.

Clementine met each thrust with her hips, gripping him with her legs, falling into a natural rhythm. Pants and cries filled the air and Roman fought for control. Driving himself into the tight warmth, he kissed her neck and face.

“So damned lovely,” he uttered against her skin.

With several more lunges, he felt her tighten around him and she cried his name as she shattered in his arms. He came almost immediately, gripping her tightly as the searing release shook him to his core.

Chapter Twenty-Four

“We should move.” Clem remained motionless, her eyes closed to savor the warmth of Roman’s palm upon her face as they lay on the bed next to each other. The soft mattress under her slightly aching muscles and his arm wrapped about her gave her no desire to leave the cocoon of his warm body.

He smoothed his thumb over her face repeatedly. “Definitely.”

Opening her eyes, she caught the smile quirking his lips. “We really should. Someone might find us.”

“I know.”

“This is too scandalous.”

“I know.”

“Even for a Musgrave.”

“I know.”

She sighed and burrowed into his touch. Could she not stay like this forever? She didn’t know what the future held for them yet, but she knew one thing—she loved the Marquis of Rochdale and he loved her. Neither of them had said it with words yet. It didn’t even need saying. Every time she met his gaze, she saw it, and she was certain he read the same from her.

She took his hand and tugged it away from her face to peer at it. “Why are your fingertips rough? Gentlemen have soft hands usually.”

“Forgive me.” He tried to draw his hand away. Clem placed it back on her cheek.
