“How come? That seems a bit wrong when—”

“You claimed me first,” he says, placing a finger over my lips and shushing my complaints. “Ordinarily, we’d do it together, and we’d both have to approve the bonds. Mine is just a formality now, to even the score that you have started.” He rubs his forearms, a look of pride on his face as he sees my possessiveness. “Well, mine doesn’t come with beautiful marks like yours has.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, it upsets my magicae, too,” he says with a smirk. Then his eyes close, and I feel him in my mind. It’s so much more than just when he shared his magicae with me, shared hisprimordium.

This is deeper, more powerful, more intimate.

I feel the moment the bond snaps into place for two reasons.

The first is because I feel full of air—literally.

The second is because pain sears through me and I let out a scream as I burn. Just a small burn under my right breast. Ryes told me that his bond doesn’t come with a brand.

He was wrong.

“No!” Ryes roars, opening a portal just in time for my witchmeas to fly through, and shift into his dragon form. The power shift in the air causes something strange to happen within me. My knees buckle, and Ryes catches me as the door opens.

“What’s happening?” Necos demands. He slows time, but that causes me to scream again because the pain is so much more intense, so much more painful.

“Speed it up!” Eirik snarls, directing his words to Necos before his drill sergeant role comes out to play. “Jasper, Mael, go watch the fucking witchmeas. Do not bring it back until it’s shifted. Ciar, Etrix, lift them both onto the bed, but donotbreak their hold. Ryes is helping her through this. Zohar, get Vitalis here. Now. She’s going to need you both.”

The words fade from my mind when the pain spreads from a little mark under my left breast to covering my entire body. I scream as barriers within me are drawn down.

The power from my men as they try and soothe me doesn’t help.

Sounds fade from my ears, the ringing in my ears too much to handle, as everything hurts.

Then, my soul arrives. He touches my cheek, helping guide the magicae within. Then my water is there, helping take the pain away.

It still burns, but I know I’m not alone anymore, so it’s bearable.

And then, it all just stops. My eyes fly open when my witchmeas licks my cheek, and I look around my room. What once was pretty lovely, is now destroyed.

Well, everywhere except my bed. The bed, my pillows, and my blankets are safe.

“What was that?” I whisper, feeling myprimordiumbursting with energy. I gently probe at it, but it doesn’t move. “What’s happening to me?”

“Nothing is happening to you,mo sholas,” Ciar says.

“Not anymore,” Mael adds.

“So what…” I trail off when I notice that they’re all excited.

“You’re no longer a baby witch, little love,” Vitalis says with a cheeky grin.

“I don’t understand,” I say softly.

“You’ve awakened,” Eirik says calmly. His icy blue eyes are what I focus on, and he grins at me.

Awakened?

“Your magicae has reached its peak,” Zohar explains softly. He’s checking my vitals, making sure I’m okay. “And you’re now legally an adult in our world.”

“It’s time to lead your army, little Queen,” Necos says, his eyes glowing silver. “Your magicae has now been fully unleashed.”

THE END
