“Well, yeah, but I hadn’t seen him all day.”

“Case in point, right there, as to why you might be preggers, you two hump like it’s an Olympic sport.”

“So do you and JJ,” I throw back at Lexi.

“We are talking about you right now.” She points her finger at me. “You know, I’m surprised you don’t already have a billion babies.”

“Riiiight?” Margo unhelpfully agrees. “I’ve thought the same thing on many occasions.”

“You two are crazy, let’s reduce that number to three, three baby Kallens I can handle.”

“Three billion,” they both say at the same time, fist bumping before falling into a fit of giggles while I continue to freak out that I may in fact be pregnant.

Lexi looks at me and when she sees me in freak-out mode, she sits up straight. “Look, Chels, I seriously think you’d know if you were, so have a great night tonight and let future Chelsea worry about it.”

Nodding my head, I smile. “Yeah, you’re right. I’d definitely know if I was, it’s just my mind running rampant ‘cause the heroine in my current read is pregnant.”

“Exactly, now drink up.” Margo lifts her beer and proceeds to chug it back. Shaking my head, I sit back in my chair and lift my drink to my lips but for some reason, I don’t take a sip. I stare into the bubbly amber liquid and internally freak-out. Lexi and Margo start discussing a girls’ trip away but I can’t focus, I just keep thinking about the fact I might be pregnant.

I’m not, am I? Sure, Kal and I hump like rabbits but we’re newlyweds and he travels for work. Surely not.

Before I fall into full-blown panic mode, the guys arrive. My husband sweeps me off my chair and into his arms before he smashes his lips to mine. For a few brief seconds, I stop my internal panicking and focus on the man currently squeezing the life out of me. Then I quickly push away, what if I’m pregnant? He’ll squish the baby if he squeezes me like that.

“You all right, babe?” he questions, worry etched on his beautiful face.

“Yeah, I’m fine, I just need the bathroom.” Looking to the girls, I shout louder than necessary, “Bathroom. Now.”

They both look at me with confusion but they sense the silent pleading/impending freak-out I’m spiraling into because they both jump up and drag me out of my chair. We loop arms and the three of us walk away from the guys toward the restrooms.

When the guys are out of earshot, l whisper-hiss, “I think we need to get me a pregnancy test.”

CHAPTER5

CHELSEA

“Come again?” Margot questions when I flip the lock on the main bathroom door. Sorry, ladies who need to pee, but I need one-on-one noninterrupted freak-out time with my girls.

“I … I think I’m pregnant.” They both stare at me wide-eyed and open-mouthed. I’ve left Margo speechless, something I’ve only managed to achieve a few times in our life.

“With a baby?” she finally asks.

“No with a pucking gorilla, of course a baby.”

“We were only teasing you.” She adds, “You don’t have to get so momma-bear.”

“I know but …” I shrug and subconsciously cover my stomach with my hand and begin to gently rub circles.

“Holy puckballs, you really think you are, don’t you?” she squeals when she realizes I really think I am.

Nodding, I stare at my two bestest friends and smile. “I … I really think I am. My boobs are sore. I feel sick all the time—”

“And earlier today you ate as much as Kallen and JJ combined.”

“I didn’t eat that much.” They both give me the ‘really’ look. “Okay, fine, I did overeat a little but forget about that, what am I going to do?”

“I can duck out to a pharmacy and get you a test,” Margot offers as she takes my hand in hers, squeezing in that reassuring best friend kind of way, letting me know it’s all going to be okay.

I shake my head from side to side. “I’m not taking a pregnancy test in a bar’s bathroom.”
