Page 88 of Our First Christmas

Mary was once my mother’s best friend, before my mom passed away. She was the reason I met Kace and Cam, and I loved her dearly. I was happy that she and my dad found comfort in one another, but that didn’t mean I wanted to think about what they may be doing.

“Hey, do you ever think that he may wonder about us?” Kace teased. “Think he knows you practically humped Cam’s leg while holding on to both of our dicks?”

I flushed beet red and rolled my eyes. Kace loved pressing my buttons and pushing my limits. He lived for getting me to turn red, telling me it was a sexy shade on my cheeks, even at the expense of my sanity.

“Kaaaace,” I groaned. “Please don’t make me think of my dad, and what happened the other night, at the same time.”

His laugh made it all worth it, though. He threw his head back and I could see his body shaking from how hard he was laughing. That was something we all did more and more of–laugh.

The key in the door made me turn my head and Cam started walking in with a big smile on his face. He dropped his bag and took his shoes off, then locked the door up tight. Even though Alan was in jail, we still locked my apartment every time we were there. We never wanted to run the risk of him getting out and coming back.

I didn’t move, since I had my coffee in my hand, but Cam walked in and sat behind me, circling me in his arms. “How was your day?”

“Better now.” I leaned back to kiss his jaw as he nodded at Kace.

“You?”

“Good,” Kace lifted his own coffee to his lips. “Got a workout in…”

I zoned out as they talked about their practices and workouts. Kace always told Cam what he worked on and with who, and Cam always told Kace how his practice went. I listened sometimes, but I mostly just basked in being between them. Their friendship was stronger than ever, and never waned. It was magic watching them together. It still amazed me that I had been brought into their circle and loved as much as they loved each other.

“What are you thinking, Babygirl?” Kace squeezed my calf that was resting next to his leg on the couch.

“Just how lucky I am,” I sighed.

“Did you hear what Cam said?” He nodded behind me to look at Cam.

“No, what?”

“I don’t have practice the rest of the week.” Cam smiled. “I fly out Saturday, so aside from having to study the playbook for this week, we have two days to do whatever you want.”

“Playbook?”

“The book that has all our plays in it. Everything we have done in the past that worked, plays we want to run in the future, and when would be a good time to utilize those plays.”

“Geez, I thought you just showed up and threw the ball,” I joked.

Cam grabbed my cheeks and shook my head playfully. “Ha, ha! Okay, focus. What do you want to do for the next two days?”

“All three of us?”

“Of course,” they both said at the same time.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but I didn’t know if the guys would be on board. I bit my lip and leaned up so I could turn and look back and forth at both of them.

After a minute, they both laughed, and Cam pulled me back into his chest. “What is that sexy brain thinking?”

“I want to decorate for Christmas,” I blurted. “I know you both mentioned that you never bothered because you spent Christmas with your families, but I feel like I want the joy of Christmas wherever we are.”

“I’m on board with that,” Kace nodded. “At Cam’s, since his house is all picturesque and perfect?”

We had already decided we would be spending Christmas night at Cam’s. He wasn't going to be there because of his game but we wanted to be there when he got home.

“All of our places, that way no matter where we are at, there are lights and Christmas cheer.”

Both guys just stared at me with blank faces, but their smiles slowly formed. I knew I sounded like a kid with sparkles in her eyes, but they made me want to paint the town in red and green. They made me want to celebrate in a large way.

Like a family.
