She shrieked when his fingers dug into her sides and tickled her. “I hate to be tickled. Stop.”
“That’s good to know. Now, let’s get out so I can feed you.”
She grinned. “Sounds good to me.” Anything to do with him was good.
Chapter Six
Roman put on a pair of shorts, and his mate wore one of his dress shirts with the sleeves rolled up. Although she looked adorable in it since it went to her knees, it was also sexy as hell, and he was having a hard time leaving the bedroom.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her into the kitchen, making her laugh. “Have a seat.”
“I can help.”
“Not this time. I’ve been hard on you, and I want you to rest.” He opened the refrigerator door. “If we want something quick, we can make sandwiches?”
“That sounds good.”
He brought the bread, meat, cheese, pickles, mayo, and plates to the table, and they started to assemble their sandwiches.
“Holy shit.”
Roman looked toward the doorway and saw Nico. He hadn’t seen this brother in a few days because he worked long hours.
“Baby, this is my brother Nico.” He turned to his brother. “This is my mate, Brenna.”
The shock on his brother’s face was almost funny.
“I really didn’t think it would happen for us. Congratulations, brother.”
Roman stood and accepted the hug from his brother. “Thank you. I think it gives everyone some hope that it can happen.”
“It does me.” Nico held out his hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”
He couldn’t hold back the growl of jealousy. Even knowing his brother would never try for his mate, he still hated for any man to touch her.
Nico snorted and quickly shook Brenna’s hand before stepping back.
“When did you get home?” Roman asked.
“Not that long ago. I’ve just had time to shower, and now I need to eat.”
“Sit down and have a sandwich with us,” Roman said.
He watched his brother and mate as they got to know one another and had to admit that he’d had her in his bed for hours and still didn’t know some of the things she was telling Nico, so he listened carefully.
He also noticed that his mate looked tired, and he needed to take care of her better. After he cleaned up his mess, he reached for her hand. “I’m taking her back to our room. I’ll see you tomorrow. You know to come to get me if there is a problem.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Nico said and grinned.
Roman grunted.
“Good night, Nico,” Brenna said.
“Night, sister.”
She laughed.
