“Kara.” I kissed the corner of her mouth. “Kara.” I kissed her cheek. “Kara.” I nibbled on her neck. “Kara. Mine.” I sat back and cupped her face.

Her pale-blue eyes gazed at me with a dazed expression, as though she couldn’t believe how connected we were with one kiss.

“Titus.” She licked her scarlet lips.

“Luna, your lips are straight from my fantasies.”

She laughed. A tiny, tinkling noise like raindrops on a tin roof. I wanted to hear her happiness again. I’d make her laugh forever.

“What do your fantasies involve with lips?” She raised an eyebrow even as her lips spread into a teasing grin.

“To have them wrapped around my aching cock, but you knew that.”

A faint blush stole up to her cheeks.

“And I will have my lips on you everywhere, but especially between your legs.”

The blush deepened. “Should we be talking about oral sex when we’ve just met?”

“Love.” I chuckled. “We’re fated to each other. It doesn’t matter the time, nor does it matter what we talk about. You should be comfortable talking to me about anything.”

Her eyes took on a faraway look. “I don’t know if I can.”

“You will.” I let go of her face. “Let’s eat. Otherwise, I will hold you all day.”

“That might get problematic.”

“My little daisy is as strong as a White Fir.”

She gasped. “White Fir is my favorite tree. I love the scent.”

I brushed back the strands of her silky hair. “I love the scent of you. You smell like daisies.”

“I like your scent too.” The blush hadn’t left her face. “But Titus…”

“Eat,” I demanded. “Home out of the storm. Then we’ll see what happens next.”

She nodded. Whatever she was running from, whatever or whoever she feared, I’d take care of her problems for her. She was mine. Nothing would get in the way of us being together.

Chapter Six

Kara

After I refused to shift, we walked side by side through the remote wilderness. Beside us, the river flowed in a swish of water, a raging tempo to our steps as though urging us to hurry. The rising wind blew the golden leaves around our feet as though nature was leaving a trail for us to follow home. Above, the sky darkened with heavy gray clouds, an ominous portent to the storm brewing on the horizon.

“Kara,” Titus said after an hour’s walk. “If we don’t shift, we’ll never make it home before the storm. I don’t want my mate harmed.”

He strode beside me at complete ease in his nakedness. I tugged my denim jacket closer around my body to protect myself from the increasing iciness and the thought of stripping in front of Titus. This was ridiculous. As a wolf shifter, I’d stripped and changed forms many times in front of other shifters. But it had been so long. Would I even remember how?

I flattened my lips together and kept marching. He hadn’t even let me carry my backpack. How he wasn’t even shivering was beyond me.

“It’s too cold,” I said, darting a glance at his naked chest with the stunning tattoos for the millionth time.

“I’ll keep you warm.” He threw me a sultry smile.

I dropped my gaze to the uneven ground. One kiss and I was ready to find out exactly how he’d keep me warm.

He chuckled as though he’d read my thoughts. “Kara, your wolf’s coat is warmer than the jacket you’re wearing.”
