“Wait!” she says, and I breathe out a sigh of relief. She’s going to tell me she’s just going to head back to campus and she’s sorry to have come over unannounced. I can read her mind and she doesn’t even know it. People are so damn predictable.

“Someone’s approaching with a key right now. I’ll be right up.”

Panic courses through my veins. “Okay. I’ll be here,” I say, fumbling to hang up the phone and I miss, but I don’t have time.

Darting to the chair I tip it all the way back until it’s horizontal, trying to slide the damn thing under my bed but no way will it fit.

Frantically I try to break the legs, but Bojana is wrapped around so much of Keith I’d have to break Bojana’s hold, and that’s impossible. She’s too strong.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

My eyes move to the bathroom. “That won’t work,” I say out loud. Although locking them in there might just be my best bet.

Suddenly there’s a knock on my door. “Hey! It’s me. Open up.”

My head goes left and right and then up and down. I can’t think of anything, nothing, other than that.

“One second.”

I do the best I can and not ten seconds later I’m at the door.

“Why are you always out of breath when you meet me? And what’s that smell? You really need to do something about that odor,” she says stepping inside like she owns the place.

Fuck me.

Moving through the space she throws herself on the bed. “So. Round two?”

Lifting her hips she starts to slide out of her pants. I keep my eyes on her, but I can’t help but see the movement that’s happening underneath the blanket just past her, Bojana slithering over Keith’s body.

“I’ve been dreaming of taking you in the shower,” I say, moving to the bed, grabbing her by the hips and lifting her up.

“No. I can’t get my hair wet. I have to get back to campus soon.”

“I’ll be careful.”

“What’s wrong with the bed?”

She squirms in my grasp and my instincts kick in as I grab her like a man trying to escape me, fighting for his life.

“Ouch! You’re hurting me.”

I let go and take a step back.

“Are you okay, Sam? You seem a bit…strange.”

“Just work stuff.”

“When we left the hotel everything was so perfect.”

“Then I checked my messages. They want me to work a double shift for the next couple of days. Threw me off a bit.”

“Oh. Well…I can leave then. I didn’t know.”

She starts to slide off the bed.

“No,” I insist, stepping in front of her. “You’re not going anywhere.”
