Ishake my head, knowing Shelby’s mood is heading south because I’ve got to leave. I’d rather be with my woman than deal with this shit, but I have things to take care of. She keeps giving me the cold shoulder and pouting—not exactly happy I’m leaving. If she keeps this up, I’ll spank her ass and fuck her out of this mood.
“I need to press my scrubs for work tomorrow.” Shelby says, trying to walk past me.
I grab her wrist pulling her to me. “You need to talk to me. I’m not leaving because I want to Shelby. I’m leaving because I have stuff to do for the club. Coming here was already breaking most of the rules, but I couldn’t stay away from you or that sweet pussy of yours.”
“You’re so romantic,” she says, shaking her head.
“I’m just being honest, babe. How was I supposed to stay away with all the talk of you touching yourself? I wasn’t going to let you have all the fun,” I say, giving her a crooked smile.
She sighs at my teasing. “I know but being away from you is hard. This thing between us is new and I need reassurance that you in this with me.”
“Baby, what else do you need? I claimed you in front of my club. I’m sharing shit about the business and I’m here with you when I shouldn’t be. I don’t think that could be any clearer.”
“I’m sorry,” she says, laying her head on my chest. I just hate this so much. I’m constantly worried that you’ll be wheeled into the hospital hurt or…worse…”
“It’s going to be okay.” I tell her, rubbing my hands up and down her arms trying to reassure her.
“It just sucks that I have this great boyfriend and I can’t show him off to my friend and just have a normal dinner out with you. Plus, grandma gets out the hospital tomorrow because they finally got her medication lined out. I wish you could be there with us.”
I know it’s a big deal because Billie has to stay longer than expected. Besides the concussion causing sight problems they had to figure out, she had issues with A-fib that scared Shelby.
“I’m sorry, Shelby. I need to do this. If you don’t give up on me, I promise to make it up to you.”
“Just promise me that you’ll be safe, and I’ll be okay,” Shelby says, leaning her head back so I have better access to kissing her.
I kiss her hear, licking along her bottom lip before sucking it into my mouth.
“I think we have time for one more round,” I murmur against her lips.
“I’m all for that,” she grins, pushing back into the kiss.
A loud knock startles us apart, Shelby glancing at the clock before looking at me.
“Are you expecting someone?” I ask. The mood to take her to her room suddenly gone.
My body tenses as she shakes her head no. I try to look calm, but I’’ve kicked into protective mode. “Go stand over there, baby, on the opposite side of the door.” I point to the side where whoever it is won’t be able to see she’s here.
“King,” she says, her voice full of worry.
“Its alright beautiful, just do it. I got this.”
She nods as she does what I ask. I fucking brought this to her house. I put her in danger, or my men were dumb enough to come find me here and blow the whole cover.
I reach into my cut, hanging on the coat rack, pulling out my gun from its holster. I cock the gun, sliding one into the chamber. I open the door with my left hand, peeking around it as I have the gun trained on whoever is outside where they can’t see it.
Mongrel is standing there. There’s a moment where surprise rolls across his face as I open the door wider, pointing my gun at his face.
“What are you doing here mother fucking? Are you following me? I told you where we could meet, and you bring this shit to my door?” I ask, deadly calm.
“What the fuck? This isn’t your door,” Mongrel says, glowering at me.
Shelby comes running over to the door before I can stop her. “Mason? What are you doing here?”
“Mason?” I ask, in surprise. “You’re that motherfucking Mason?” I itch the pull the trigger before he can even say anything.
“Yeah, I’m Mason. What the fuck are you doing with my woman?” Mason growls.
“She’s not your woman, motherfucker.”
