Page 19 of Mine to Take

A man shouldn’t have this much power.

And it most certainly shouldn’t be making my pussy this wet.

His hand squeezed a bit tighter, and I gulped down my fury. There was no doubt in my mind that he would pull me back over his knee if he needed to. This time though, I was worried that he might actually push it a bit further than the first time, and I might cry.

My arousal spiked even higher, my body betraying me so fiercely that it took my breath away.

“Yes, sir,” I replied, unable to hide how pouty saying so made me feel. He chuckled, clearly amused at my reluctance before taking both my hands within the confines of his.

“You’re safe with me,” he repeated.

I looked away, knowing full well that I believed him even though I didn’t want to. I’d always taken care of myself. I’d never even dared to let myself get to know anyone, especially this quickly. Yesterday, I hadn’t even known his name. He’d seen me kill a man, tried to take me hostage and I’d escaped, thinking I’d never see him again. Less than twelve hours later, he’d found me, bared and spanked me. It hadn’t ended there either. He’d been the first man to ever kiss me. My head and my heart were still reeling from all of that.

I didn’t know what to think or feel. I knew I should be running. I should be fighting this. I should be furious.

I wasn’t.

I gazed out the window, watching the tall lights of the city. The highway was full of cars speeding by. I turned my head, surveying where we were going. We were driving out of the city. I could read enough of the sun’s position in the sky to know that we were heading north.

“Where are you taking me?”

“To my home. You will be safe from the Bratva and your father there,” he replied.

“You really think they’d come after me?”

“I do. Not every man out there is against hurting a woman for the purposes of vengeance,” he growled, his voice taking on a slightly more serious tone.

There was something more there, a flash of anger and maybe grief, but it vanished in the blink of an eye.

I studied him more closely now. I felt like the things he was saying were genuine. There was something about him that felt kind, even if there were parts of him that I was convinced were criminal. I sighed, not wanting to believe any of it.

After my mother had died, though, I had vowed to never depend on anyone other than myself.

I wouldn’t break that vow for a man like him. I couldn’t.

Would it be so wrong to enjoy it for a little while though? That was all it could be, a temporary respite in a life where I’d lost my mother and my home and everything that I’d ever held dear.

I just had to keep myself from getting attached. Maybe it was just a simple fascination because I’d never met anyone like him before.

With a frustrated huff, I sat back against the seat. “My father is not a forgiving man. He’ll never stop looking for me,” I stated.

“You’re going to have to trust me, Kasia,” he replied gently.

“He’ll kill you,” I warned him.

“I’m not afraid of him,” he said curtly.

I stared back at him. My father was a powerful man. He wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone that stood in the way of him getting to me.

“Listen to me, Kasia. I’ve dealt with men like him more times than I can count. Several have tried to kill me in cold blood, but none of them have gotten close enough to even hurt me. My estate is a fortress. You will be safe there,” he proclaimed, his voice fierce.

My heart pounded in my chest. His hand cupped my face gently, turning my face up toward his. I swallowed.

“Is your bottom still sore?” he asked, his desire rumbling through every syllable. Instantly, I felt my anger fade away as though it was dying embers in a campfire, only to be replaced by the overwhelming desire for his touch. His other hand grazed the top of my thigh and a needy shiver raced up and down my spine.

“Yes,” I breathed.

“Good,” he grinned, his eyes sparkling with aroused amusement.
