Page 34 of Mine to Take

I’d heard the anger in his voice. His men had openly defied him. He hadn’t been sad to hear that they’d died in the struggle. He’d chuckled and told me that he welcomed me taking care of the job for him. He also assured me that he would not come for Kasia. There was a sense of pride in his voice when I told him about what she had done to his Russian soldier.

Before he’d hung up though, he’d warned me that not all the Bratva members that died were his, that some of them were part of a Polish mafia family. He’d partnered with another segment that had been local to New York City in his exploration of an arms deal that had gone sour and he said I should be wary of those men coming for me.

I told him I’d give him a call if they tried. I’d buy his power if I needed to.

I’d tear down the entire world to keep Kasia safe at my side.

Her father was going to be a far more complicated endeavor. All of my efforts to reach him turned into dead ends. From what I could gather on the fringes, he was pissed.

An angry Polish mafia boss was not something I could ignore for long. Once he found out I had Kasia, he was going to come for her, and I needed to do everything I could to prevent that.

At the very least, she was safe here in my home for the time being, at least until I found a way to deal with her father.

Not only had he lost out on a potential alliance in the arranged marriage of his daughter when she’d run off, but he’d lost out on the money and prestige he would have stood to gain in the sale of her to a rival organization. He would have secured an alliance with the Bratva here in the United States and I’d ruined all that.

I had no intentions of making it right either.

I had billions of dollars at my disposal. On the surface, I was a real estate mogul here in the city. I’d grown my fortune through both legal and illegal channels, buying off the right people at the right time to overlook anything that might appear suspicious. I had friends in all the right places, be it Cyrus Holt or Jon Moretti, both powerful mafia leaders in their own right.

I was different than them in small ways.

If I needed soldiers or weapons, I bought them. If I needed power or alliances or loyalty, I paid for those too.

Everything in the world had a price. It was simply a matter of how much it cost.

I had a number of men that were as loyal to me as a consigliere or an underboss. They’d been serving me for so long that they would throw themselves in front of a bullet to protect what was mine. Knowing their loyalty was so strong, I led them carefully, holding all of us to a strict code of honor.

We didn’t hurt the innocent.

Kasia sighed in her sleep, and I curled my arms around her even more tightly. Eventually, she rustled and blinked blearily as she woke.

“I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” she whispered.

“You looked so peaceful.” I cupped her face, tracing my thumb over the ridge of her cheekbone. She pressed her face against me, seeking out my touch. I smiled with appreciation, noting for the first time that my heart started to thump when she gazed into my eyes.

I’d never felt that with anyone before.

“When you’re ready, I want you to sit in my lap so we can talk about what comes next, angel,” I began.

She squinted her eyes a bit in confusion, trying to find out what I might mean. She glanced down at herself, seemingly just remembering that she was naked in my arms.

My seed was still smeared between her pretty thighs. I wasn’t sure if I was going to let her wash it off yet. I quite liked marking her in such a primal way. I shuddered with desire at thinking how beautiful she would look with it all over her face.

I didn’t tell her the direction of my thoughts. She’d learned more than enough today at my hand. There was much left to teach her and our entire futures to do it.

“Can I get dressed in something?” she blushed, her expression bashful.

“No.”

“But…”

“You’ll sit in my lap like a good girl, or you’ll lay over it with your bottom bright red and sore like a bad girl, angel,” I countered. I didn’t want any distance in between us yet. I just wanted her in my lap. I didn’t care if she was sitting up or lying over it.

My hand flexed and a surge of pleasure flared up the length of my cock.

To be honest, I kind of liked thinking she might choose to be a bad girl, knowing that I would spank her as thoroughly as she needed.

“I’ll be a good girl,” she answered quickly. The muscles of her ass flexed against me. Her throat moved a little as she swallowed. She was nervous, but her body told me that she didn’t really hate the idea. I traced the seat of my palm over one of her erect nipples, eliciting a delicious breathy sigh from her lips.
