″I’m not.”

″Then why is there a tall, naked, tattooed man answering your door?” Andi asks as she pulls away.

″He slept on the couch. I have a stalker. It’s a whole thing.”

″Stalker?”

″Watches me. Leaves me notes and brings me flowers. Creepy, I know.” Haley walks toward the kitchen.

″What is this, that fucking movie Fear?”

″Is that the one where he carves her name into his chest?” Haley asks casually.

″Yeah, and he kills her dog.” Andi’s face is contorted as she glances at the back of Haley’s head. She’s clearly concerned about her friends lack of concern.

I’d be too, except Haley’s got me to protect her and I’m pretty fucking good at carving names into chests. I try to hide my grin so I don’t appear to be a sociopath in front of Andi.

″Well, I don’t have a dog,” Haley deadpans. ”So I think I’m good.”

″I think you should get one. A big one that eats people. This sounds sick as fuck. What the hell, Haley?” Andi points to me. “And what about this guy?”

″Callum’s family owns a security business. He was helping me with security things and… well, I guess we’ve gotten a little close. Cal, this is Andi.”

″Andi, yes.” I nod, remembering the wine girl. “It’s nice to meet you.”

″Really? Because two minutes ago you were a self-righteousarsehole,” says Andi.

″What is it with American girls poking fun at my accent? I’ve probably lived in the states longer than you’ve been alive, lass. Best to respect your elders.”

Andi smirks as she shakes my hand, showing she’s only poking fun at me. She heads back for her suitcase, opening it on the floor. “I brought wine. We have celebrating to do!”

″Celebrating what?” Haley asks, grabbing wine glasses and a wine opener.

″It’s eight in the morning,” I say.

It earns me a scoff from the women as Andi places three bottles of wine on the counter. “I shipped more. They should be here in a couple of days. For now, I present to you the newest bottle in the Sorrento Vineyard’s collection.”

Haley glances at the label. “Who is Marcy, and why does she get an entire bottle named after her?” She opens the bottle, pouring the white wine into glasses.

″It’s supposed to be chilled. But I’m too impatient,” Andi says, taking a glass from Haley. After taking a sip, Andi finally says, “we’re having a baby.”

″Like, trying for a baby?” Haley asks.

″No, like having one. Due in seven months.”

″Aren’t pregnant women supposed to refrain from drinking?” I ask.

″That’s where Marcy comes in. She’s our surrogate. It’s my egg and Dom’s sperm. But she’ll be carrying for us.”

″Oh my God!” Haley reaches over, grabbing Andi. “You’re having a baby! Holy shit. Does Charlotte know? Is she excited to be a big sister?”

The girls continue to chat about pregnancy and Andi explains to me why she can’t have children, but it goes over my head.

As they chat, I start my plan for revenge.

Heading out of Haley’s, dressed in the suit from yesterday, I climb into the back of the SUV while Scotty drives. He glances at me through the rear-view mirror, his eye still thoroughly black and blue from the beating he took by the hands of one of our men.

He may not have been disobedient, but he left Haley’s house without permission. His actions come with consequences, and I don’t feel bad about ordering them. I do, however, hate that I wasn’t the one who caused the marks on his body.
