I SHOOK PIPER AWAKE, hoping to rouse her without waking Ibrahim. “Merry Christmas,” I whispered, as she blinked the sleep out of her eyes. Excitement flowed through my veins. I loved Christmas morning, full of hope and love and cheer, the one day of the year I attempted to tamp down my cynicism. I couldn’t wait to celebrate with Piper, the extraordinary woman who’d slotted herself into our lives so perfectly, with Ibrahim, my sometimes lover and best friend, and even with Benedict, whose care for Piper made me look at his grouchy exterior in a new light.

She disappeared into the bathroom to brush her teeth, wash her face, and find a robe, leaving me vibrating with anticipation when I threw open the double doors leading to the common areas of the suite.

Piper gasped with delight, her hands flying up to cover her heart. “Oh, James, this is incredible.”

While we slept, Benedict had worked with the hotel staff to transform the suite’s main room into a Christmas wonderland. Twinkling lights warmed the room with their colorful glow. A tiny tree sat on an end table, with small presents tucked under its boughs. And four stockings hung from the bottom of the television, which was turned on to a video of a crackling fire.

Tears filled her eyes, and I pulled her into my arms. “Shhh, Piper, it’s okay.”

She sniffled into my bare chest. “You’re all just so damn perfect.”

I pulled back, holding her by her upper arms as I searched her face. “So are you, Piper. Absolutely perfect.”

Piper nodded, but her smile didn’t quite meet her eyes. Once again, I cursed the series of men in her life who’d convinced her she wasn’t perfect in every way, that she wasn’t worthy of every bit of their adoration.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” I asked, changing the subject.

Her eyes glowed with excitement. “Yes.”

“Let’s do it, then.”

Piper was going to blow Benedict’s mind this morning.

Chapter Fourteen

Benedict

THE SOUND OF CHRISTMAS carols roused me from a deep slumber. I rubbed my eyes. I hadn’t gotten nearly enough sleep on this trip, even if every moment spent bringing a smile to Piper’s eyes, or a moan of pleasure from her mouth, was well worth the exhaustion. I felt a pinch in my heart at the thought of saying goodbye to her tomorrow. How had such a perfect creature barreled into our lives so quickly, so completely?

A few moments later, I was ready to face the day and my temporary roommates. I opened the door to the common area. The warm glow of the lights I’d directed the hotel staff to hang the night before enveloped me in the Christmas spirit. The television was on, a feed of a crackling fire playing on repeat, and the joyous sounds of holiday music wafted softly in the background.

At the table sat—

Holy fuck.

Piper lay on the table, bound, blindfolded, and gagged. James stood beside her, gently stroking her hair, murmuring sweet words of encouragement as she lay there, quiescent, still, in the early morning light.

He’d wrapped her in thick red ribbon, crisscrossing her breasts and stomach, winding the thick satin around each leg so her calves were bent flat against her thighs, her legs wide open and inviting. Her hands were bound above her head with ribbons that reached down to the legs of the table. More ribbon snaked across her face, gagging her and blindfolding her. Considerately, James had placed a pillow under her head, but the position could not have been comfortable.

I couldn’t breathe, the weight of the gift she’d given me, overwhelming me. Fuck. She’d ceded all her control—her sense of sight, her ability to speak—to offer herself to me so goddamned beautifully.

She wiggled and twitched, and my heart dropped to my feet. I stepped forward, worried she’d pushed herself beyond her limits.

My eyes swept to her pussy, where a ribbon cut up through her legs to hold a vibrator against her clit. No, she wasn’t writhing because she was upset. She was writhing because pleasure pulsed through her body.

James stroked Piper’s face. “Piper, love, sweetheart, darling, Benedict is here.”

She nodded around the ribbon.

“Would you show him your signal for yellow?”

She shook a tiny bell in one of her hands.

“And how you’ll tell him to stop?”

The bell fell to the floor with a discordant jangle.

James picked it up and placed it back into her fingers.
