“No,” I bit out.

“Then answer the question.”

“Why do you think you have some say so over me or anyone else?” I glanced at her before forcing my gaze back to the road. “You’re—”

“An expendable. Too bad I don’t give a shit. Now, are you going to answer me, or do I have to jump out of the car?”

“You wouldn’t.” I ground my teeth. She couldn’t possibly be that level of insane. Beeping filled the car, along with wind slicing through the opened car door.

“Fuck.” I jerked the car, trying to get the door closed. I reached for Keegan to keep her from jumping to her death. “Close it.”

She unbuckled her seat belt, and I cursed. “Keegan!” I slowed down, grabbing at her.

She batted my hand away. If I didn’t need to keep one hand on the wheel, I’d have a better hold on her. My blood was rushing, and what felt achingly close to panic clawed at the back of my neck.

She shut the door and righted herself. Past the roaring of my blood, I heard Keegan’s laughter. She bent over, chuckling as she stared at me. “Oh fuck, you looked terrified. I should have snapped a picture.” She laughed. “Be careful, Luxious. People might think you have a heart.”

Keegan had her phone and held it up. I slapped it out of her hand. It flew to the back seat. Her smile melted away as she glared at me. “That was rude.”

“Buckle up,” I said through gritted teeth.

“Paybacks a bitch, huh? Don’t ever pick me up like that again.” Keegan buckled her seat belt and got settled in her seat once more.

I hit the lock button and made a mental note to get child safety placed on the passenger door.Fuck, I’m surrounded by insanity.

“You brought me to your house?”Keegan asked as she stepped through the black French doors.

Her gaze traveled all over, taking in the black marble flooring to the high ceiling with a diamond chandelier hanging in the middle. Hand-painted portraits of my father and mother hung on the wall.

Keegan’s startling green eyes finally landed on me, and I realized I was waiting for her approval. It was absurd. I no longer cared what others thought of me.

“Pretty much what I think a rich douche’s house would look like.” She crossed her arms and fixed a glare my way.

I shouldn’t be surprised that she was unimpressed by my family home. To me, it was normal. Nothing about it stood out from others, but someone like Keegan should have been far more impressed.

“Come.”

“We’re going to have a problem if you keep treating me like a dog,” Keegan growled.

I hummed and moved further into my home. I made my way to the grand staircase and took two at a time as I headed for my section of the house. The click of Keegan’s heels on the marble flooring followed me.

“Why did you bring me here, Luxious?”

I had no answer for that. “What are your intentions with Hawke?”

Keegan stopped short of entering my private room. There was an entertainment area, and three steps above was my king bed. The walls were a deep green. Every painting on the wall was created by someone famous, and a professional hand-picked all the furniture. Even in this space that was supposed to be mine, I had no real control. Not yet.Her gaze fluttered over to it for a short second.

“What do you mean?”

I pulled my phone out, easily finding the picture sent to our group message. The picture of Keegan wrapped in Hawke’s arms, both of them naked, still pissed me off. Not because Hawke had touched her. No, it was because I hadn’t. Being patient had its benefits, but it was the last thing I wanted to do. Waiting for her to come crawling to me, begging for my help.

She was meant to be our prey, something to pass the time with. Yet it felt like we were all chasing her when it should have been the other way around. Keegan was never a part of our plan to rule Aridole, and it needed to stay that way.

So why in the hell did I bring her home?

“You claimed him.” I turned my phone off and tossed it to the side.

Keegan shrugged. “Yeah, so what? Are you mad because I took him away from you?”
