“We can take a nap together.”

“How do I know I can even trust you?”

“Because you don’t have a reason not to. I won’t do anything you don’t want me to do. You just seem like you can use a friend right now. Real shit.”

She lowered her gaze, and I could see the smile playing on her lips. Although she was getting more comfortable, she still wouldn’t stare at me for longer than a few seconds at a time. “I have to pass on that, Jamel, as tempting as it sounds.”

“Okay. I have no choice but to respect it. Can we still go to dinner?”

“Are you trying to monopolize all my time?”

I chuckled. “And if I was? Would that be a problem for you?”

“Today… yes.”

“My bad. I’ll back off, but I’ll be checking on you to make sure you’re good. I’m off until my recertification is done. I can’t work. So I have nothing but time on my hands. I mean, I may hook up with my boy. He’s an anesthesiologist, and his schedule is usually crazy as hell, but since I’m flexible this week, we may be able to go for lunch or drinks. However, I know your schedule is flexible now too.”

“Sounds fun,” she responded, choosing to ignore my last statement.

“Mm hmm.”

She was doing her best to act like she didn’t know who I was and trying to keep her pathetic cover. I would let her think she was doing something until I showed up at Onyx Saturday night.

“DJ, you ain’t gon’believe this shit!”

As soon as I left Sandrene’s presence, I texted him to see if he was off work today, and lucky for me, he was. Arrow was at work and didn’t answer his phone. Seneca or Ali would have been next on the call list if DJ would have been at work. I couldn’t keep this shit to myself, because I was beyond excited. I called him immediately after he responded to my text.

“What? Whatever it is, it has you excited as hell.”

He chuckled as I said, “I went to breakfast with Obsession.”

He was quiet for a moment, then he said, “I know you fucking lying. How you pull that off?”

“I met her almost two weeks ago. She was the woman that did my recertification. I had to see her again today because I forgot to sign some shit, and she missed checking it before sending it off. They fired her, because it cost the company a lot of money. However, when I saw her today, I knew it was her. After Saturday night, I could never forget her. Her voice, the way she smells, and every move her sexy ass body makes, is all ingrained into my brain.”

“Ain’t that some shit. She knows that you know?”

“Naw. She’s trying to do everything not to blow her cover. Plus, she’s driving the same car I saw her drive off in from the club.”

“You gon’ tell her?”

“Eventually. I’m actually getting a kick out of watching her trying to pretend that she didn’t cum all over me Saturday. When she thought I wasn’t looking, I saw her squirming in her seat. I turn her on, and it’s killing her to pretend that she don’t wanna hop on all this dick.”

“Mel, please tell me you being a gentleman though.”

“Man, yeah. I’m just talking like this to you. She got me soft as fucking cotton, begging for some of her time. Since she’s been fired, I don’t see why she needs to hide who she is anymore, but I’ma leave that to her to decide.”

“Well, it must be in the cards, man. I’m surprised she went to breakfast with you knowing that you may figure out who she is.”

“She declined me at first, so I was shocked when she came back and had changed her mind. She’d left, and I was sitting in the parking lot wishing I could spend time with her.”

“Good luck with that, bruh. I can’t believe you got the opportunity to meet the real her.”

“Like you said, it was in the cards.”

“Since you off, go ahead and get fitted for the wedding.”
