Vince could only hope it was true. If Claire came back into their lives, he would never take her for granted again. They would treat her perfectly, give her everything her heart desired, and never let her leave their sight again. She had been such a gift to their lives—and their marriage—and having to live without her presence was almost too much for them to handle. Not only had their marriage suffered, but so had their mental health. It was like Claire had become the glue that held their lives together, and now she was gone, everything was falling apart.

Vince threw back another whiskey, ignoring the burning in his throat and the tears in his eyes. Being there with his best friend was what he needed right now. Sure, the booze wasn’t helping, but he knew Dino would support him no matter what.

Sighing, he dropped his empty tumbler on the bar and leaned back in his chair. As he moved, he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket.

“So, Lorelei was okay with it?” Dino asked. “Like, she was really okay with it?”

Vince stared at his friend for a second. He hadn’t expected Dino to say anything else, or ask any more questions. He nodded in reply.

“Jesus.” Dino laughed. “I never thought of her like that. Always thought she was a good girl, ya know?”

Vince shrugged. “I guess she can come off that way sometimes. She’s certainly not vanilla though.”

Dino chortled. “Maybe I need a young girl to spread her legs for me,” he said, his voice echoing in the glass at his lips. It was clear that he was running away with his imagination. Dino would never admit it, but his marriage was failing. His wife, Alison, was a stuck-up prude who hated fun. That’s how Dino told it, anyway. Vince never got to see the woman, she was always busy when he came to their house.

Vince felt his phone vibrate again. Dino had distracted him, making him forget about it. Probably Lorelei, he thought. For a moment, he considered ignoring it. But a thought made him pause: what if it was Claire trying to reach out to him one last time? What if he could go and see her, whisk her away?

His heart started to race in his chest. His hands grabbed at the cell phone in his pocket, clumsily grabbing at the corners as he yanked it out. He pressed the home button, the screen flashed bright white, hurting his eyes. There was a text displayed on the lock screen:

“Daddy,please come over.I’m home alone.”

Chapter seventeen

I'll never let you go

Clairehadbeenwaitingby the door since her Daddy had told her he was on the way. She could feel her stomach churning, flipping over itself as her nerves grew. Her mother had changed her mind about letting Claire live with Vince, and she’d been beside herself. How was she supposed to live without her Daddy? Her mom was being unreasonable, destroying her happiness just because she didn’t understand.

Just thinking about it made her eyes well with tears. She didn’t want to live like this, constantly going behind her mother’s back to live her life how she wanted. But what else could she do? Her mother had made it perfectly clear she was never to see Vince or Lorelei again.

Hot tears rolled down her cheeks. Claire pressed her lips together tightly, stifling her sobs. Her shoulders rose and fell as she tried desperately to hold herself together. Soon, her Daddy would be there. He’d wrap his arms around her and tell her it would be okay. He’d make everything better, even if it was for only a little while.

Claire could feel her heart shredding to pieces in her chest. It was unlike anything else she’d ever felt before. Raw, painful emotions that were taking hold of her whole body.

Bright yellow headlights came into the driveway, flashing through the thin curtains on either side of the front door. Claire rose to her feet and opened the door. Her Daddy rushed toward her, his arms outstretched. Claire let go of the door, letting it swing open and bash into the end table beside it. Vince grabbed her just in time. Claire’s knees had given out, unable to hold her up anymore. His strong arms held her, cuddling her close to his chest as the tears poured out of her eyes. Her mouth opened, letting out the harrowing sobs that had been stuck inside her for days.

Claire’s hands grabbed at his sweater, clutching onto it. Vince continued to hold her up with one arm as he shut the front door of the home behind them.

“It’s okay,” he whispered to her when the door was closed. “Everything is going to be okay.”

“How? How, Daddy? She’s taking me away. She’s never going to let us be together again.”

Vince took a couple of steps toward the stairs, looking down into her eyes as he held her close. “Then we’ll have to make tonight count,” he said, his voice low.

Claire didn’t want to think about the future, not even half an hour in advance. All she wanted was to stay in her Daddy’s arms. However, she couldn’t betray her mother’s wishes. After all, her mother knew what was best for her. She’d brought her into the world, raised her, given her everything she ever needed. Claire couldn’t turn her back on the sacrifices, the advice, the sleepless nights.

Still, Claire gripped her arms tight around her Daddy’s neck, pulling herself closer to his body, as he climbed the stairs. He took her into her bedroom and set her down on the bed. He didn’t give her a moment to compose herself, or wipe away her tears. Vince climbed on top of her and immediately started kissing her.

Claire noticed a difference. There was no passion, no hurry, no fire. Vince was the sweetest he had ever been with her. There was no roughness in his hands as he peeled away her clothes. There was a tenderness in his kisses, the way he planted them along her cheek. She wasn’t sure how to react to this new side of her Daddy. The only thing she could do was kiss him back, let her hands drift down his body and gently take off his clothes.

It didn’t take long for their naked bodies to connect. Claire wrapped her legs around Vince’s waist and pulled his hips into hers. She could feel his erection pressing against the top of her cunny, against her tender skin.

Vince moved his right hand down between their legs and grabbed the base of his shaft. He moved it around, sliding it between her wet lips.

Claire let her eyes close slowly as she felt his cockhead pushing into her. Her stomach was alive with nervous energy but she wasn’t going to let it take control of her. This was the last time they were ever going to be together; this was goodbye.

She wrapped her arms around the back of her Daddy’s neck and pulled him down to her, kissing his cheeks and lips. Vince replied by pushing his cock into her, plunging it as deep as it would go. Claire groaned and pulled his body tighter to hers. Tears filled her eyes. Gasping, she grabbed fistfuls of his clothes, trying desperately to hold onto him.

Vince started to pump his cock into her, thrusting hard but slow.
