He heard Leo cursing and stepped away from his mom to see what had his brother upset.

Juliette shook her head. “He’s making a scene.”

“I think you should have spanked him more when he was little. He’s a bit of a brat.”

His mom playfully punched Logan in the arm. “You all are. Let’s go see what the problem is.”

He followed her over to the table where the partner assignments were being managed.

“What’s the problem, little Leo?” Logan asked.

“Nothing. There’s no problem. Just found out I’ve been paired with Danni Eldridge.”

“Why is her name familiar?” Juliette asked.

“She’s a small business owner whose company is being compared to Leo’s,” Logan said with a smile. “Oh, I think we should make a healthy wager.”

“She’s not my competition. She’s a startup working out of her garage. I have a large warehouse and factory where I produce hand-made quality products.”

“So there isn’t a problem, right?” Logan asked. His brother’s defensive tone belied the notion that her little startup didn’t bother him. Leo had started the same way. Hand-making products in his home and growing his business. “Where is she?”

“I don’t know,” Leo said. “I’ve never met her and don’t know what she looks like.”

“Surely you looked her up online,” Logan said.

“I did. Her profile picture is a Singer sewing machine,” Leo said.

“I’ll go and find her,” their mom said, moving toward the crowd of wedding guests congregated by the golf carts.

“I think we should wager shares,” Logan said.

“Forget it. I don’t know her at all. I thought I’d get Dare, but he’s paired with some girl I’ve never met either.”

“This just isn’t your day, Leo,” Logan said.

Before Leo could answer, their mom started back toward them, her arm looped through another woman’s. The stranger had dark brown, curly hair and a heart-shaped face. Her eyes were brown and her gaze direct as she got closer to them.

Logan noticed that Leo was staring at her the way Logan was pretty sure he’d been looking at Quinn last night. “Maybe the competition isn’t as bad as you thought,” Logan said.

“Maybe,” Leo said, walking over to the woman and holding out his hand. “Are you Danni? I’m Leo. Leo Bisset,” he said. “I’ve been wanting to meet you for a while now.”

“I bet you have,” Danni said. “That’s why you told the press that you thought my startup was just me trying to hang on to your coattails as you forge a new path.”

“Damn,” Logan said.

His mom elbowed him in the ribs. “Let’s leave the two of them to talk. Leo, we’ll meet you at the golf carts.”

Logan followed her to the line, trying not to smile too much. There were a lot of times that Leo reminded him of himself. They both had a way of opening their mouths and making things a million times harder. No matter how much he thought he’d changed, there was a part of him that knew if he tried to get serious with Quinn he’d probably put his foot in it with her too.

The Nantucket Golf Club was busy with the wedding party and guests all playing eighteen holes. Nick and Adler had hired staff to be at each of the holes with beverages and snacks, and there were photo booths at the odd-numbered holes. Quinn had her camera crew set up on the most picturesque hole to capture everyone who played through. She had been filming some confessional video that she was going to edit as a gift to the couple, so had used her own personal camera.

So far, she thought it was going to be a nice video package to go along with the live wedding coverage. The day was sunny and perfect for June. Quinn wasn’t a sentimental person but if she were, she’d think that Mother Nature was giving Adler a nice day to make up for everything that had happened the day before.

Adler was all smiles when she showed up at the hole partnered with her dad, along with Nick and his sister, Olivia, who were also partnered. Toby Osborn was the first one to the tee and Nick was offering his soon-to-be father-in-law some tips while Olivia stood off to the side snapping pictures with her SLR camera.

“How’s it going?” Quinn asked Adler.
