“I can’t do that. I’m my best self when I’m with you. And this morning was a lifetime ago. I had to come to terms with all of the changes in my life, and I’m not going to lie and tell you that I’m one hundred percent there yet. But losing you, watching you walk out, woke me. Showed me that I don’t want a life without you, Quinn. I know it’s asking a lot of you, and I don’t expect to change your mind. But I have to try. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. I love you.”

She shook her head. “That’s not fair. You can’t say that. Not now. I told you—”

“That you’ll believe me? I hope you do. Because I’m not a man to lie to anyone. You know that about me. I’m not saying this because I think it will make you come back, I’m saying it because it’s true. Whether you let me back into your life or not, my feelings for you won’t change. Love doesn’t work that way. And it took losing you for me to understand that.”

She was struggling to keep her guard up, to keep the walls in place. But this was Logan. He had never been the kind of man to not speak his truth. He’d never been someone to use falsehoods to woo her. He’d been honest from the beginning.

“I want to believe you.”

“That’s a start,” he said. “Will you take a chance on me? Let me prove to you that this morning was just me reacting badly to events I couldn’t control.”

Torn, she could just stare at him.

His expression changed and he sighed. “I don’t blame you if you say no.”

Say no.

Could she live with herself if she did? She’d always regret it if she didn’t give him a chance. She wanted a chance too. With Logan. The man she loved.

He took her hand in his. “Please.”

She stared into his bright blue eyes, not sure she’d heard him right.

“I’m begging you to give me another chance,” he said. “I don’t want to live the rest of my life knowing that I let you get away—twice.”

“Is this because you feel like, if I do, you won’t win?” she asked. She had to ask. He hated losing so much, he’d undercut Nick to prove that he wasn’t giving in to a Williams.

“No. It’s not because I want to put a tick mark in the win column. I need you with me because I love you. You make life fun and exciting. You make me engage in things when I’d rather just sit and sulk. My life is so much better with you in it. I love you.”

“I love you too,” she admitted.

Her assistant came out, followed by the rest of the bridal party, and Logan moved so that he was standing between her and them. “I know you have to work but I can’t leave it like that. Will you give me a second chance? Can we be a couple?”

“Yes,” she said.

He pulled her into his arms and kissed her long and deep. There was the sound of applause, but she could only hear Logan whispering in her ear how much he loved her and how lucky he was to have her by his side.

She went back to work, finishing up filming a few more church shots, and Logan just waited for her. She knew that his life wasn’t always going to enable him to wait on her while she was working, but she appreciated that he had.

They went to the reception hand in hand. He stopped before they walked inside.

“I don’t know if I can always be perfect,” he said.

“I know you can’t be, Logan. That’s part of what I love about you. As long as we’re partners and you’re not trying to compete with me, we can make this work.”

“We can. I want that more than anything,” he said. “I love you, Ace.”

“I love you too,” she said.

Adler came out of the hall by herself, tears streaming down her face.

“What’s the matter?”

“Auggie and Tad are fighting. Nick punched Auggie in the eye.”

Logan ran into the rehearsal hall and Quinn and Adler followed. The two older men were having a standoff and Nick was between them. Logan raced to their sides, standing by Nick. He looked over at Quinn and Adler and then nodded.

“You two are going to have to figure out a way to get along. Nick and I are twins, Dad. You’re now related to each other by Adler’s marriage. The rivalry has to end or you are going to both lose everything.”
