“Did something else happen today?” Because he was too worked up from just a meeting that didn’t go the way he wanted it to.

He grunted and pressed a kiss to the top of my head. “Yes, and I’m livid over it. I went to grab a bite to eat with the guys and learned real damn quick that it’s already starting. A photographer was there trying to snap pictures of us. I deleted what she had, but I realized how fucking stupid I’d been.” His entire body vibrated in his fury. “I recognized her. She’s been hanging around for a while, and I didn’t think to ask questions or think on it past the time she was out of my sight. Which was before my dad was arrested. So how long has this been floating around there? This woman knew what was coming before I did.” He scoffed. “Of course,Dad,” he said his name with such disrespect, “didn’t care to let me know what was coming. I doubt he told mom either.”

“That sucks, Rhys.” The memory of telling Trinity pity sucked rose to the surface for just a second. “You’re not your dad. While it might be bad for a little while, it will settle down.”

“I hope you’re right. But…I don’t want you caught up in it. No matter how short it lasts, it could get ugly. You and the others should all consider giving me some space for a little while.”

“Absolutely not,” I nearly shouted. “No.” I shook my head. “I can’t speak for the others, but I’m not pretending you don’t exist just to make my life easier. If you believe I could be that selfish, you don’t really know me.”

He gripped the underside of my knee, pulling me over his lap until I straddled him. “I don’t think that about you at all. It also doesn’t change the fact that I don’t want to see you suffer for my family’s mistakes. Hell, I don’t think I should suffer either, but there’s no way I’m going to escape it. The least I could do is protect you.”

The love I had for this man surged through me. I understood where he was coming from, but that didn’t mean I had to roll over and desert him for the sake of his conscience. The guys wouldn’t leave him either. That was what true families did, stuck together and supported each other.

“Let me worry about me, okay?” I pushed forward until I settled over his crotch. A smirk toyed with the edges of my mouth as I ground against his erection. My star hockey player wanted me no matter the topic of our conversation.

Attempting my own form of seduction, I leaned back and whipped my shirt over my head before dropping a kiss to his lips. “Let’s forget about your dad and mine. Let’s forget about tomorrow and focus on right now.”

His large hands spanned over the outside of my thighs and roved around until they spread over my jean-covered ass. “You took the words right out of my mouth.”

I grinned. “And guess what?”

“Hm?” His hum was distracted as he worked my hips over his dick. His eyes almost rolled back in his head when I started to move with him while clamping my hands over his sweatshirt covered shoulders.

“The shot is now effective. We don’t need condoms anymore.” Right after New Year’s, I made a point to go to the doctor and get on the shot. Another reason why my funds were lower than I liked. I couldn’t use Dad’s insurance for this, and I also didn’t want any oops babies. Beck’s unfortunate scare was enough to educate us all on what we didn’t want our future to be.

Rhys’ chin dropped as my words registered. Then a burst of energy had him tossing me on the couch so he could strip. “Take your clothes off. Shit.” He closed the drapes behind the couch as I pulled off my own clothes.

We faced each other, naked with all articles of clothing littered around us. My breath hitched as I let my gaze roam his chiseled body. He had a few scars that only enhanced his beauty. All the time he’d put back into the gym really showed in the strength of his muscles that flexed as he stepped closer. His chest rose and fell in a quick staccato.

I had no idea who moved first, all I knew was suddenly, I was in his arms, and he dropped me on the couch while tracing the column of my neck with hot, wet kisses. I groaned as he slid a finger over my seam.

Just when I’d gotten my arms around his shoulders, he was gone, dropping his face to the vee of my thighs. His warm breath fanned over my pussy as he spread my lips apart. Holding my gaze, he dipped and swiped his tongue in a circle over my clit.

Dear Jesus in heaven.

Holy shit. That was not the term I should be using right now.

“I need you to enjoy this because after the day I had, I have energy to burn off, and I can’t be gentle,” he murmured as he licked around that sensitive button again. He tormented me with his fingers and tongue and before I knew it, I was a writhing mess on the couch, mewing like a ridiculous kitten.

His fingers started that delicious curl inside, finding that spot that really set me off. Once he closed his mouth over that bundle of nerves and sucked hard, I imploded in a sea of white lightning. Wave after wave of pleasure rocked through me and when I opened my eyes, I was gripping his hair and holding him against me.

The sparkling heat in his eyes said we were just getting started. He rose up and entered me in one swift thrust.

“Oh damn, this feels…” His eyes closed as his top lip peeled back from his teeth. I whimpered from how he stretched me with his sudden invasion. Pulling out almost to the tip, he dug his fingers into my waist and pulled me against his pounding hips.

There was no warning as he lifted me and took my place on the couch, all while inside me. I gripped his shoulders for leverage, but it wasn’t needed. Rhys lifted and dropped me on his dick so hard I shouted.

He gave me no time as he lifted me over and over again, crashing me against his bucking thrusts. My eyes nearly rolled back in my head when I edged closer to that familiar feeling of ecstasy.

Rhys must have felt it too because his punishing rhythm became erratic, and his labored pants turned rumbling groans of pleasure.

“I’m gonna…hell,” he buried his face in the crook of my neck. I trembled in his arms, smiling against his temple.

He pulled back and studied me with dazed eyes. I loved this look on him.

“What are you smiling for?” He asked hoarsely.

“That was amazing. I like not gentle.”
