“Dinner ends now,” he hisses between his teeth before grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the restaurant amid the astonished looks of the other customers.

In response, Aaron bursts into thunderous laughter. When I turn to him for an apology, he greets me with a smile and a wave of his hand.

Evan drags me into his apartment in a fury, and when he closes the door behind him, his mouth takes possession of mine in a kiss that marks me like fire. His jealousy is fierce and irrational and makes my legs tremble with excitement. I know Evan would never hurt me. He’s not one of those creepy men who locks you in a basement. His loss of control is, somehow, sweet. The vulnerability is written on his face.

When he flops me over his shoulder and takes me to the bedroom, a giggle escapes my lips, earning me a slap on the butt, and another smile escapes from my lips. I always thought Damian was the caveman who kidnaps his woman to possess her in all the positions, but I didn’t know Evan. Oh, no, I didn’t know him.

As soon as I put my feet on the ground, he leads me until I fall back on the bed. He kneels between my legs and bends down to mark me with another kiss.

“You’re mine, got it? You are mine!” The despair in his voice and his gaze makes me pause. If I had a single doubt that there might be a different way to interpret his reaction this morning, it’s entirely erased by the way he’s claiming me now.

“Yes.” It’s all I can say before he pulls off the little black dress I’m wearing along my hips until it slides on the ground. Same with my bra and panties. Only the shoes stay on, just the way he likes.

He wastes no time undressing. He unfastens his pants and lowers them with his boxers just enough to free his erection. He lifts my ankles until he rests them on his shoulders and then sinks into me with a single movement so fluid and decisive that my orgasm explodes, making me cry out his name.

He holds me tightly in his arms as I throw my head back and ride the wave of pleasure that hits me. He fucks me furiously, giving free rein to all the feelings that run through his chest. He sinks into me without missing a beat, and when a second orgasm makes me tremble, he comes undone, plunging his head into the hollow of my neck and biting my shoulder enough to make me groan with pain and pleasure.

I’ve never been so into a relationship where I’m totally at the mercy of man’s will, and like a drug, Evan makes me want to belong to him more and more. Tonight he made me his own. Not just my body but my mind, heart, and soul. I am his, and I have no regrets.

“I want the two giant screens here,” I order the technicians who have come to set up the room.

The two guys give me looks that could kill. The place I’m pointing to is along a window of the club in Midtown overlooking Manhattan, the only place where there’s no wall to support the two screens that weigh a ton and no sockets to plug them in. Getting them here has been a pain in the ass, but I want the videos we’ve prepared for tonight to be backlit by the lights of New York.

The Jailbirds worked day and night to record four albums in a record time of two months, and I want everything to be perfect. Luckily, they’ve played those songs so many times it wasn’t hard to re-record the old albums.

“I don’t care how you do it, even if two people have to stand there and hold them the whole night. I want those giant screens here,” I hiss before going back to checking emails on my phone.

“Is it normal that those two are crying?” Emily’s voice makes me turn around. She’s smiling as she watches the two technicians walk away, mumbling.

“What are you doing here? I thought you were busy arranging Emma’s move.”

“I came to see how it’s going. You left at the crack of dawn this morning, and I didn’t get to wake up the way I like.” She pouts and then kisses me.

Since I dragged her out of the restaurant during dinner with Aaron two months ago, she’s practically never gone back to sleep at her own apartment. The excuses vary, from working late to a dinner with a little too much alcohol, but her clothes have multiplied in my closet, and I can’t wait to go home at night to be with her. Even working together snuggled up on the couch has become something that makes me happier than staying at the office late.

“I promise I’ll make up for your missed orgasm.” I kiss her again, holding her tight.

“How’s it going here? Need any help?”

I look around and watch as people scurry here and there setting up the place for tonight’s party. The buzz is that it’s going to be an amazing event. Hundreds of people will be here to see the extraordinary rise of Jail Records in a few hours, and I want everything to be perfect.

“No, don’t worry. Iris should be around somewhere growling orders to the poor guys working for us.” I smile while she pouts, disappointed. I’ve never seen this vulnerable side of Emily, and it makes me feel important. It’s rare for her to let anyone see beyond her façade as a strong woman.

“You’re not my assistant anymore, remember? Go and enjoy the work you like to do.” I wink at her.

“But I can’t work with you anymore. That’s one of the things about my new job that Idon’tlike.”

I lower my lips to her ear and whisper. “Tonight, when we get home after the party, I promise you’ll have my undivided attention.”

She rests her hands on my chest and raises her eyes to mine. A little hope shines through her gaze while she scrutinizes me. “The way you say it, it almost seems like it’s my home too.” It’s an unspoken question.

“Do you think it’s a bad idea?”

“To move in together?”

I nod and study her, realizing that what I feel in my chest is hope. I never realized Iwantedto move in with her. We slipped naturally into this routine, and I never really paid attention to how important it was to me.

“Actually, we’ve been doing it for two months,” she says.
