She doesn’t look alarmed, but she’s hesitant, as if she’s trying to decide how she should respond. To help her make up her mind, I press my lips to hers again. I’m gentle. Tender. Things I’m usually not.

Eventually her lips part to allow me to go deeper. I take my time, teasing her with my tongue. Her body relaxes. Cupping the back of her head near her neck, I work her mouth more. Heat roils in my groin. I delve deeper into her mouth.

God, this is good.

Weaving my fingers through her hair, I clasp her closer. Her hands fly up defensively and come to rest on my chest. I want to grind my hips into her, but I don’t want to come off too aggressive. Instead, I kiss her harder, claiming her mouth, every inch of lips, palate, tongue. I take whole mouthfuls of her until she sounds breathless.

She tries to talk, but the words are muffled by my lips.

“The eggs,” she finally manages when our lips unlock for a second.

I realize the eggs are banging against the pot. Leaning over, I turn off the stove, then promptly turn my attention back to her.

“We should—” she starts.

But my mouth covers hers again. This time I wrap an arm around her waist and press her to me. She can probably feel my hard-on against her belly, but she doesn’t push me away. In fact, she’s actively returning my kiss now. As much as she can, that is. I’m conducting this kiss. I position her head so that I can access her mouth from different angles. She exhales a soft moan when I move off her mouth to taste her neck and kiss my way to her shoulder.

A small warning goes off in the back of my head. I should stop. It’s not too late. But what’s the worst that can happen? I get her out of my system, but she develops feelings for me and I have to break her heart.

Nevertheless, I pause. She seems to pick up on my hesitation.

“I never told Amy where I was going,” she says. “What if she’s looking for me?”

I doubt it.

As if on cue, I get a text from JD. After pulling out my cell and reading it, I show the text to Bridget.

Going back to my place with Amy.

“Oh,” Bridget says, a little disconcerted. Maybe she feels like Amy abandoned her.

Which means she’s alone here with me.

And all mine.
