“I am,” I said with a grin. “I am happier than I have been in my entire life.”

“Good,” he said. “Tonight was magical. Thank you for having me over.”

“Thank you for coming to hang out at my place. I don’t always want to go out when we’re hanging out, and I thought this was nice. We really got to know each other.”

“On a whole new level,” he said with a wink, and I laughed. We fell silent again, and he resumed looking up at the ceiling.

“What are you thinking about?” I asked him.

“Just how perfect you are,” he replied with a smirk as he looked down into my eyes. I blushed but stayed snuggled against him.

“I don’t think that’s it,” I said.

“I think it is,” he replied. “Because I’m sure you’re pretty perfect.”

I blushed again. I hadn’t been called perfect by anyone else before now, and I wasn’t sure how to handle it. I never knew anyone who felt this way about me before, and I was over the moon with happiness. In that moment, I changed my mind about sending him home.

After the night we’d had, I didn’t want him to leave, and we were both off in the morning, so there was no reason I could see to send him off right now. At least, I would invite him to stay. If he didn’t, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it would at least give him the option and put the ball in his court.

“You got anywhere you need to be?” I asked suddenly.

“What?”

“It’s just that, with tomorrow being a weekend day, I wondered if you might want to stay the night with me? No pressure, but if you’re not getting up to run off first thing in the morning, it would be nice,” I said.

He gave me that flashy grin once more, and my heart skipped a beat. I didn’t know it was possible to get weak knees for someone immediately after having sex with them, but it was something I was happy to figure out firsthand.

“I don’t have anywhere to be, no,” he said. “So, if it’s not putting you out at all, I would love to spend the night. Just be warned, though, I’m pretty sure I snore.”

“Pretty sure I do, too,” I told him, the content smile settling in on my face as I laid my head back on his chest. I took a deep breath, shocked that this was my life now. It had seemingly happened overnight, yet there were ways this felt like it was meant to be this way forever.

As I closed my eyes, I never wanted the night to end. It was so incredible, everything I had ever hoped it would be. I was completely blown away with Trevor in every sense, and I hoped he felt the same with me.

He wanted to stay the night, and I figured that was the best sign I could ask for. He didn’t just want to leave after sex, and I didn’t get the impression he was in a hurry to get up and get out in the morning, either. He had his same, relaxed attitude about falling asleep in bed with me as he did about everything else.

And I could fall in love with that, too.

All I needed was time.

NINETEEN

Trevor

I wokeup Saturday morning before Harper did.

She was sleeping soundly on the mattress beside me, and I kissed her bare shoulder. She was still naked, and the blanket had fallen to the side of the bed and nearly to the floor. But, with me out of the bed I figured she would get cold, so I carefully picked up the blanket and covered her before heading into the kitchen to find something to eat.

She didn’t have many options to choose from when it came to breakfast, but I was able to find enough eggs and some bread on top of the fridge, so I started making eggs and toast. The coffee was easy enough to find, but I wasn’t able to start breakfast until nearly half an hour after I had gone out into the kitchen in the first place.

I managed to finish the toast and was working on finishing the scrambled eggs when Harper herself wandered out into the kitchen. She was dressed in a tank top and shorts, looking just as beautiful as she did the night before when she was all dressed up for our date.

“Sorry, I guess I could have asked before I just went through your cupboards and started cooking food,” I said.

“I don’t mind,” she said with a smile. “In fact, I can’t remember the last time I walked out to find breakfast ready and waiting for me. Certainly not something I’ll complain about.”

“I hope you like my cooking. Brace yourself, it’s not nearly as good as yours,” I told her.

“I’m sure it’s going to be fine,” she said. “Especially since there’s going to be coffee involved. Give me some of that.”
