“But … Liam….” Her voice came out scratchy and discombobulated as she attempted to lift her head and look toward him.

“Keep your hands and your head down.” He said the words sternly, as if she didn’t have a choice.

She whimpered slightly before moving her hand back down to the bed, her face turned toward him but pressed into her pillow. He saw her draw in a deep breath before biting down on her lower lip as his fingers returned to her folds.

The excitement rose inside of him, and he felt like he was on the verge of bursting—she was so wet and ready for him. His fingers settled between her, rubbing the small nub between her folds as she gasped and writhed but kept her head and hands down as instructed.

Not able to resist any longer, Liam pulled his body up and held himself up with his hands planted on each side of her head, his long shaft settling in the welcoming warmth between her legs.

Teasing her for a few beats, he rubbed himself against her entrance, and Sadie lifted her ass up a bit, pushing back into him impatiently.

“Liam, please,” she sputtered the words out in a groan at the same moment he finally entered her in one sure movement.

She cried out at the sensation, and Liam felt like he might have blacked out for a minute—it just feltso good. He recovered quickly, though, moving in and out of her in sure and steady strokes.

Every time they’d done this over the past twelve hours, Liam always started off so sure of himself, so in control. But as soon as he got inside of her, it all went out the window, and he ended up feeling like he wasn’t the one in control. He never really had been—Sadie had all the control.

She let out a loud moan as he felt her start to pulse around him rapidly. The vise-like feeling pushed him over the edge, and he collapsed back to his side of the bed, pulling her with him, holding her in a spoon position as they both pulsed against each other until they were finally still and replete.

They lay there for a few seconds, catching their breath before Sadie turned around to face him. She looked up at him, the warmth and adoration in her eyes causing his heart to pause. Is this really happening? Is this real?

“Now we can go skiing,” she said in a low whisper, reaching up to put her forefinger in the center of his chin.

“Yes,” he responded quietly. “Let’s do it.”

This is really happening.

“God, the Wall kicked my ass today,” Sadie groaned.

Liam chuckled, following her into her apartment. They’d flown down one of Lake Conrad’s steepest ski hills today—called the Wall for good reason, as it was basically a straight shot down to the bottom of the mountain.

“Is that going to be your excuse for me beating you on the moguls?” he said with a teasing laugh, pulling off his ski coat and throwing it on the chair on top of hers.

“Hey, that was a total fluke,” she said with faux seriousness before dissolving into giggles. “I can usually do that mogul run blindfolded. I’ll get you next time.”

“We’ll see about that,” Liam laughed, falling onto her couch.

She just shook her head with a low chuckle as she walked past him and into the kitchen. “Want something to drink?” she called over her shoulder, her long French braid swinging behind her.

“Sure, did you say you had beer?”

“Yeah,” she answered, her voice muffled from the kitchen. “I should have some IPAs of some sort in here …ah-ha!” He heard the clang of beer bottles being set on the stone countertop.

“Perfect.”

The word echoed inside of Liam’s chest after he spoke it—it struck him just howperfectthe past twenty-four hours had really been.

Watching her now over the kitchen’s breakfast bar, closing the refrigerator and rooting around in a cabinet, she looked rumpled and wrinkled in her purple long sleeve T-shirt and leggings, a couple loose strands of blond hanging in front of her face. She seemed so normal—not the princess from high school, not the scary reminder of his past. Just a woman … a woman whom he liked.

Is this real? The question had continued to plague him throughout the day.

He felt like both his high school self and his future work self were standing in the back of his mind viewing his current state with a mixture of awe and disapproval.

But his present self had been insistent throughout the day that all his actions over the past twenty-four hours were incredibly rational—understandable, even.

His present self did have to admit, however, that throwing his body on top of hers like a deranged animal the previous night wasn’t exactly the smoothest move he’d ever used.

He’d felt like was back in high school, taking his chance with the most popular girl in school. Any polish he’d gained in the subsequent years had disappeared, and he was just that nerdy kid, tackling her like he had so many times in his dreams.
