The words tumbled out of my mouth.

The guys regarded one another with the same quizzical expression, as if they weren’t sure they’d heard me right.

Adam was the one to break the silence. “You think that we brought you here tofireyou? As in, tell you that you’re not going to be working for us any longer?”

Tyler chuckled. “If we did that, our next move would be to hire some bodyguards to protect us from the twins. I swear, they’d take us down in flurries of tiny fists if we fired you.”

I was confused. “So, thisisn’tabout firing me? But is it about my performance?”

“No,” Marcus said, his tone gruff as ever. “Not that.”

“Then… what is it? Sorry to press, but this all seems a little out of the ordinary, you know?”

The men looked at each other again. I could sense that, whatever it was, they weren’t sure where to start.

Mac, taking a deep breath, began. “You’ve been a real pleasure to have around, and the kids are already crazy about you.”

“All the same,” Adam said. “There’s a damn good chance that what we want to talk to you about is something that very well could have you reconsidering whether or not you want to keep working here.”

The more they spoke, the more confused I became.

Mac formed his mouth into a flat line, as if realizing that they were all speaking very cryptically.

“Aubrey, I’ll get right to it. The four of us… we have feelings for you.”

My blood began to run faster.

“And what sort of feelings are we talking about?”

Tyler grinned. “We’re all into you. As in, each one of us thinks you’re hot as hell.” He looked away for a second, as if he wished he’d said it more eloquently. “Well, it’s more than just us thinking you’re hot. We all like you, feel a connection.”

“And we think you feel the same way,” Marcus said.

“Not to put you on the spot,” Adam quickly added.

“Well, Idokind of feel like I’m on the spot,” I admitted.

“You want to do this one-on-one?” Adam asked, leaning forward with an expression of concern in his eyes. “Or two-on-one? It wasn’t our intention to overwhelm you or anything. Just figured it was easier to get it out in the open together like this.” Adam was being kind and accommodating as always, and it went a hell of a long way toward making me feel better about what was shaping up to be a very strange situation.

“No, it’s fine. I think. But you’re right – it’s better to talk about it all together.” I closed my eyes and raised my palm. “But let me get this straight. All four of you wanted to talk to me because, well, all four of you have a thing for me? Do I have this right?”

“You’ve got it right,” Mac said. “We all find you extremely intriguing.”

“More than that,” Tyler went on. “You’re wonderful. You’re funny and smart and beautiful and amazing with the kids… you’re one of a kind. A guy would have to be out of his mind to not notice how incredible of a woman you are.”

I shifted in my seat, not sure how to handle the barrage of kind words coming my way.

Marcus folded his hands over his chest. “There’s a reason we wanted to tell you this tonight. We’re going on our mission the day after tomorrow, and we didn’t want to be distracted.”

“Distracted? Because of me?”

Adam nodded. “Yep. How the hell are we supposed to focus on taking out the bad guys if we’re all thinking about the gorgeous woman back at the house, wondering how she feels about us?”

“How she feels about…us?” I asked.

The reality of the situation, along with its strangeness, began to dawn on me.

It wasn’t simply one of them that was into me butall four of them.
