His scent filled the room with tremendous force, the rich aroma of cedar and leather filling my lungs, enveloping me. His body tightened under my palms. When he plowed into me, an indescribably powerful sensation tore through my body, reaching from my core out to my fingertips as I cried out. Any control over my body slipped from my grasp, every muscle twitching and trembling.

My body went limp against him, muscles useless, but he held me in place. I didn’t know how I could feel more than I already was.

“Gods, yes,” He groaned, and he thrusted into me again, shattering the wave I rode, and I cried out his name.

I melted into him, my head resting against his chest, every muscle beneath my skin dancing erratically. I could hear his heartbeat, hear the sound of the air flooding his lungs as he panted.

We sat there a moment, our bodies shuddering and struggling to remember how to function. The memory of how to use my own body escaped me. Useless limbs wouldn’t listen to me, and I couldn’t so much as lift my head from his shoulder as I lay against him.

He stood slowly, lifting me up carefully and carrying me around to the head of the bed where the sheets were dry. He lowered me down as my body shivered, waves of pleasure still rippling through me. My eyes fluttered closed for a moment and when I opened them he was gone, and the sound of the faucet running reached my ears. I’d nearly dozed when he returned with a warm damp rag and began carefully cleaning me. My cheeks heated, but the act was so tender that my chest swelled.

He tossed the rag to the laundry basket and kissed my forehead before climbing onto the bed beside me. “You’re absolutely perfect, mea luna.”

The bed groaned as he turned over onto his side, propping himself up on his elbow to gaze down at me. I smiled warmly at him as he settled. Every bone in my body felt useless. I couldn’t even lift my head to kiss him.

The adoration in his eyes reached out to the furthest depths of my soul. He kissed me deeply, with everything in him, his scent washing over me.

“You smell amazing,” I breathed.

He blinked, as if he hadn’t expected the words. “You can smell my scent?”

I nodded, a drunken smile on my face. “It’s woody and musky, and I like it.”

He smiled. “Good, I want that scent to always remain on your skin.”

My heart swelled. I was exhausted, to the point where if I closed my eyes, I’d be gone. He looked equally as tired, and he probably would have quickly slipped into a deep sleep if I hadn’t spoken. “What was it I said earlier?” I asked.

He smiled softly, and his eyes lowered as he looked down over me. “You saidmea sol.”

“What does it mean?”

His eyes almost looked sorrowful for a moment.

“My sun.” He pressed another gentle kiss to my forehead. “I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow though. Rest now. You need it.”

“I don’t think I could resist sleep, even if I wanted to,” I sighed, letting my eyes flutter closed, unable to fight it any longer.

My body felt weightless, almost numb. I was utterly exhausted. Damien pulled me close against him. I couldn’t stay awake any longer, and I gave into my exhaustion.

The sun’s late morning rays leaked through the curtains onto me. My eyes felt heavy as I opened them. I hadn’t slept so soundly in such a long time, even before Marcus had taken me, and it was such a relief to wake to sunlight for once. Every muscle in my body was sore, every bone ached deeply, and I wasn’t sure if it was due to everything that had happened, or because of the things Damien did to me the night before.

I turned my head to the side. Damien lay plastered against my back, one arm draped over me. My cheeks heated when I noticed his arm draped over my hip, his hand tucked between my legs, his fingers pressed into the space between my thighs. He didn’t move, and I realized he was fast asleep.

His beautiful face looked more peaceful than I’d ever seen it, and I absorbed every perfect detail. I breathed the rich scent of him, that warming hint of cedarwood and leather lingering on my skin. It was strange that I could smell it, and yet, I loved it. It was as if he’d marked me.

I lifted his arm, placing it on the pillow as I sat up. He groaned but didn’t wake. A lock of my hair slipped from behind my ear as I lowered myself to leave a soft kiss atop his brow. He shifted, a lazy grin tugging at his lips and a soft, sweet sound left him as he reacted in his sleep.

This was likely the first time he’d gotten a proper rest in almost a week, and I let him sleep. I pushed myself to the edge of the bed, moving the blankets to cover him again. The cool air chilled my naked skin, and I rose, needing to use the restroom.

My legs were shaky and weak, and the particular soreness I felt made me smile for some reason. My mind relived the night before: the feeling of his touch, his lips against my skin leaving me tingling. Chills spread out over my skin at the mere memory of it, and I resisted the urge to return to his side in bed.

After using the restroom, I found the clothes Damien had given me the night before and dressed. I grabbed the hoodie Damien had loaned me and fished my medicine from the pocket.

I quickly downed the pill with some water and wondered where I might hide the bottle. I wasn’t sure where my things might go while I lived here, so I opened the cabinet, stashing it back and out of view behind one of the drawers.

When I re-emerged from the bathroom, Damien was still resting easy in bed. The sound of his steady breathing made my heart dance. A strange urge came across me to cook him breakfast and feed him in bed. I wanted to do so much for him, anything I could to make him feel good, to show my appreciation, to express my love for him. I halted.
