"We still don't know where Jun is," Nix said warily. "He could send that killbot back to finish us off."

I shook my head combatively. "No. We have to put Cyburn first. Think about it. He is your leader, the crown prince. What if he dies? I'm more worried abouthimthan I am Jun andhiswhereabouts right now."

Nix inhaled slowly and paused a moment to think about the magnitude of what I was telling him. He didn't respond at first.

"I know it's a tough decision," I urged. "Butplease.Wehaveto get him help." I glanced down at Cyburn.

I was sure that at this point, Nix was probably well aware of the chemistry between me and Cyburn. You would have to be completely dense to miss it. I didn't care anymore about discretion. I only cared about Cyburn's safety, and nothing else. We'd come too far for me to lose him now, even if that sounded selfish. I needed him. He kept me going.

Nix groaned with hesitation but in the end, he yielded.

He radioed Silver again on the communicator device on his headset. Somehow, they had gotten disconnected.

"I need directions to the closest sick bay," Nix informed after Silver picked up the connection right away.

Silver was quick to send the directions through. Just as she handed them down, Cyburn started waking up again. He winced and groaned in pain.

"It's okay," I whispered and comfortingly stroked his cheek, gazing down at him with affection and a smile so that he wouldn't immediately freak out.

"What happened?" Cyburn looked dazed.

"You had a little fall," I told him, aiming to lighten the situation for his benefit. "We are going to get you to a medical bay to check you out."

Cyburn still looked confused, but he shook his head in protest. "No. I don't need that. I promise you that I'm fine."

He sat up, but I could tell the motion was difficult for him because he was straining and breathing harder for what the movement warranted. I tried to let him get up on his own, but I supported his weight the best I could.

Cyburn slowly got to his knees and with another groan of agony, finally was able to raise himself, albeit slowly, to a standing position.

He was a little wobbly on his feet. He almost stumbled backward, but Nix stood behind him and held him in place to keep him from falling again.

"See?" Cyburn grinned, joking. "I'm fine."

I had to laugh. He was funny, even when he wasn't feeling well. "Nice try. We're still going to the medbay to get you checked out. It's better to be safe than sorry."

Cyburn didn't protest as adamantly as I had expected, which reassured me. I didn't have the energy to argue with him right now.

"There is a medbay that is on the corridor to the left of where you are right now," Silver advised through the headpiece, but I could hear her giving the instructions to Nix. "If you go all the way to the end, it's on the right. It's mainly used by the more humanoid cyborgs. You might be safe in there, and they will have more of the equipment you'll need."

"If we can get that far," Cyburn grumbled under his breath. "And if there aren't any humanoid cyborgs in there first."

I squeezed his hand and gave him a sympathetic smile. "Don't talk like that. We'regoingto make it."

"I'll take care of whatever we find once we get there," Nix promised.

Cyburn sighed and it was then that I knew that he was going to try and argue with me again.

"I just don't know if it's a good idea for us to delay this any further. Weneedto find Jun—"

Right as he said that he stumbled backward again. It was as if he was drunk and trying to maintain his balance— but he was failing miserably.

I clutched his arm and cuffed my hand around his wrist. "No. We aregoingto the medical bay. No questions asked."

He looked at me as if seeing me with a new kind of respect for standing up to him.

"We gotta do what the lady says," Nix joked.

Cyburn didn't smile this time. He was quiet as we walked down the hallway. It took us longer than it should have to get there, too, because he couldn't walk very fast.
