"It is." I took her hand and gave her an intense look. "That's why I need you more than you probably realize. Well…weneed you."

"For what?" Carmela shook her head and stared back at me. Her eyes were bloodshot. She looked drained…both physically and emotionally exhausted.

"You are a roboticist," I said.

"Yeah…" She trailed off apprehensively as if she didn't quite understand where I was going with this.

I decided to spell it out for her as gently as I could. "You focus on building robots. This can't be an accident that you were chosen to be abducted. I mean itisan inadvertent accident… but it works out better forusthan for the Belic now thatwerescued you and you are no longer in their possession."

"I want to know where you are going with this," Carmela said, mustering up a wary smile.

"We could really use your skill and expertise," I explained. "Having a roboticist on board with us couldn't come at a better time. You understand how these things are put together. You can help us destroy it all."

Carmela stared at me as if she couldn't believe the words coming out of my mouth. "You seriously thinkIhave the capability of making these kinds of revolutionary changes?"

"Absolutely." I didn't hesitate. I wanted her to know her worth.

"Wow." Carmela glanced at her lap and went quiet for a moment.

I waited and allowed her time to digest the magnitude of it.

"We can defeat them with your help." I continued holding her hand because I felt like it helped her, and the physical touch connected us better. "Would you be willing to join our crew?"

Carmela slowly lifted her gaze and we made eye contact again. Her gaze was powerful. She held it with mine and didn't look away. This in itself proved the fact that she had exceptional courage.

There was nothing I wouldn't do for her. I could see the light and the fire in her eyes. I had no doubt that the feelings were mutual. She didn't have to speak the words. The truth was written all over her face.

"This is quite an honor for you to be asking me," she said.

"So?" I was hanging on every word she said now. "Is that a yes?"

Carmela slowly began to nod. "Yes… it's a yes." She chuckled. Her eyes brimmed with tears. "Maybe I'm crazy, but it feels right to agree."

I couldn't hide my excitement and relief. "You aren't crazy. You are making the right decision. It will be worth it in the end."

Carmela smiled with a flicker of promise dancing in her green eyes. "I hope so."

CARMELA

Cyburn placed his hand on my arm. He began slowly and softly stroking it, keeping his eyes fixed on me the whole time.

It was an extremely sexy moment and a turning point between us. I liked it when he touched me. I never wanted him to stop. I loved the way he stared at me with such handsome seduction. It took my breath away.

"You feel so warm and soft," he whispered. "Your skin on mine… I love it."

I gave him a flirtatious smile, basking in the attention. "You aren't the only one who loves it."

His eyes tantalized me. I watched as his eyes roamed across my entire body. It was as if he was privately undressing me with his eyes alone.

The mystery behind those handsome eyes was such an alluring thrill to me. I found myself wondering what was going on inside that beautiful mind of his. The fact that his eyes were so black made it extra exciting, because it was so erotic to play the guessing game of what he wanted to do to me and what he might be thinking about.

Although, I had a pretty good idea becauseIwanted it too. I craved him in a way I'd never craved anyone before. This was my first time experiencing this kind of passion with someone else.

"Forgive me…" I trailed off, becoming suddenly very emotional. My voice cracked and my eyes blurred with tears.

Cyburn's eyebrows knitted, and he frowned, but he didn't stop stroking my arm. It was quiet. The room was thick with the enormous amount of sexual tension between us.
