"Just steer theBladeas close as you can get it to the Belic ship without us being detected on their radars," I instructed. "We'll ride out on our hover bikes once we get close enough."

"I still think it's a bad idea."

"And, like I said before, you are entitled to your opinions, but you still need to follow basic orders."

I knew that Amada didn't appreciate being told what to do, but this time, she was going to just have to swallow her pride.

"Yes,captain," she droned sarcastically.

I quickly left the control room before she had a chance to argue with me any further because we were running short on time as it was.

I weaved my way to the hangar of theBlade, where my crew was already diligently waiting for me, and preparing to launch out into the open void of space.

This was where we would have to travel some distance yet hopefully nottoofar to get to the Belic ship in question, currently harboring human prisoners. We didn't know how many there would be, but we needed to be prepared for anything.

I'd been notified about the whereabouts of the ship via Silver. Silver was our self-aware AI, and our resident robot on board theBlade.

Silver was a female, and very protective over both herself and her crew. I trusted Silver, even if she had a tendency to be snarky and stubborn.

After getting briefed from Silver on the fleeting opportunity to tear down this enemy ship in question, I'd wasted no time in trying to enact an attack plan.

For now, I was hoping to raid it and take out as many of those cyborg fuckers as I could while still restoring supplies that we could bring back with us to our own ships.

With the help of my team, of course, I was always confident that anything was possible. I could never do any of this alone. I needed them more than I could ever explain to them in words.

When my father died, I became captain of our ships. The burden of caring for my own kind became enormous. I had huge shoes to fill.

However, unlike my father, I felt like I was more of a rogue outlaw, desperate for revenge of any kind. Maybe in some ways that gave me an edge over my father.

I had the hunger, the starving itch to take out my enemies one by one— and anyone who had sabotaged the welfare of our planet Alesis.

We were out there roaming through the massive void of space, desperate to gain back control of the beloved soil of planet Alesis— somewhere we could plant roots and get back to normal life if such a thing even existed anymore.

In the hangar of theBladebefore our launch into the Belic shipping lanes, I briefed my hyper and vigilant crew. They were ready to go. Stamina and morale were running high, which was exactly what I was hoping to see. I fed off their energy and strength. In this game, we had to have courage or else we wouldn't get very far.

"We need to move quickly to disable the engines before the Belic's realize what is happening. They they'll try to take off and leave so fast that Amada won't be able to find us again."

"I can't wait to blow their hatch to pieces," Nix said with a resilient expression on his stony face.

Nix was the First Mate aboard theBlade. He was also our ship's gunner. He was the only member of our crew who was married. I trusted him with every fiber of my being.

He was fun-loving and loyal. He'd do anything for anyone of us. I could say that with one-hundred percent certainty. His heart was as big as he was. He had deep, emerald-green skin and a face with enough battle scars to prove his hard-ass personality. On the inside, he was as kindhearted as they came— to those who he cared about, of course.

His booming voice and scarred face threw our enemies off their tracks, which helped for intimidation purposes. It was always a good choice to have Nix around.

"Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves," I warned benignly, feeling beads of sweat popping up on my forehead as they rolled down my temples.

I was nervous. This plan had to go off without a single flaw or we were all fucked. "We don't want to create too much of an explosion. A sneak attack is best. We don't want them to be ready and waiting for us."

"What if they alreadyarewaiting for us?" Nix asked.

"They won't be." I popped open the safety on my ray gun and prepared it for firing. I didn't know this for sure, but I wanted to give my team the confidence they needed in the moment.

"Let's get ready to dominate them as quickly and efficiently as we can. Remember, there is no room for error."

My crew nodded their understanding. There was no turning back now.

"Engines disengaged," Silver said as soon as we had fired a laser to cut through the hatch door. It was the easiest and quietist way to get the job done.
