“Zedkeil invited me to the falls this weekend. I was going to see if you’re ok with it? we were thinking of heading up tonight.”
My mom's face was like she ate a lemon,
“Mom, are you ok? What’s wrong?”
“You want to go to the falls tonight and spend the weekend there?” asked my mom.
“Yea that was the plan. You can come too, if you want. But the look on her face made me regret asking her at all. “Never mind.” I can cancel”
No honey I think the falls would be a great idea, is it just you and Z going?
As far as I know.” I drummed my fingers on the counter. “Well actually, I met someone, and I want to invite him to my birthday.
“Oh?” Mom’s interest piqued. Who is this someone? Is he hot, tall, geeky?” I couldn’t help but laugh, wow, are you a little excited there or what?
“Well, it's not every day your daughter is excited about meeting someone and blushing about it.
She hurried around the counter to sit next to me, “Tell me what he is like?”
She was so happy and excited like she was the schoolgirl crushing on a hottie,

I spilled everything…how we met by my car and how he nearly knocked me over, to him introducing me to his friends. When I told her how he asked me to hangout this weekend and gave me his number, I couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across my face. I was so caught up in filling her in about Ezra that I hadn’t noticed the change in her expression. ‘’Where are we going? Why am I just hearing about it? My gaze followed her across the kitchen.

“Okay, sounds like a plan. I shrugged.
“Aykiz just be careful and stay on the east side of the falls, okay? You must promise me you won’t go anywhere else.”
“Um ok. Why?”
My mom looked like she wanted to say something but chose not to.
“Are you alright Mom?”
She quickly composed herself, and a smile curled her lips. “Yes of course. It’s just the falls are dangerous, and I was hoping to spend your birthday with you.
We can spend my birthday together when I get home, I don’t officially turn 18 until 6:00pm on Saturday. I'll be home before then.”
After giving my mom a hug and promising to stay on the east side, she let me go pack. I called Z and gave him the details. I also sent a text to Ezra letting him know we would be at the falls if he wanted to join us. I secretly hoped he would.
CHAPTER3
An hour later, Z and I were on the road heading to the falls when I got a text from Ezra letting me know he wouldn't miss it...I let out a squeal. Guess who's coming to the falls.
‘’Oh, do tell! Mr. hottie himself is coming right? Please tell me he is bringing a friend.”
For Z sake I hoped he would. And I smiled as I looked out the window. This was going to be the best birthday yet.
We reached the falls with a few hours of daylight left. We found our spot next to these giant oak trees. Taking a deep breath of fresh mountain air, I spun around in circles. “It's so beautiful here Z.”
