He put the microphone on the stand and took both of her hands. “I’m going to make this short and sweet.” He cupped her cheek as her brows drew together. “Music brought us together and I can’t imagine how either of our lives would have turned out, if not for the other person. You’ve made me a better man.”

Emma smiled and shook her head.

“You have. I have loved watching you struggle to relearn to play, both with the violin and in life. I want to keep on this same path we started walking together months ago.” He reached into his jacket pocket and knelt as he opened the black velvet box, revealing a diamond ring. “Emma Dawson, will you marry me?”

Her beautiful brown eyes widened and her mouth dropped open, then she clapped her hands over her mouth and nodded enthusiastically. “Yes. Oh, yes, Mark!”

The audience whooped and cheered as he pulled the ring out of the box and slid it onto her finger. He stood and pulled her into a hard hug, swinging her around as she hugged him back, giggling.

He put her down and leaned down to kiss her gently on the lips. “I love you.”

“I love you.” She smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

He glanced down at David and Abby, who were applauding with big grins on their faces. David gave him a thumbs-up and put his arm around Abby and whispered in her ear. She giggled and Mark sighed with happiness.

Everything was right in the world.
