One Week Before Christmas

Chapter 6—One Week Before Christmas

Angel

This was not the first Christmas present she’d ever received that came early, but it was the first one that had involved a blindfold.

“Am I getting a puppy?” she asked, only a little trepidation in her voice. “If it’s a puppy, I’m going to kill you.” There was no way she could handle a puppy and a baby. A pony, on the other hand…

“It’s not a puppy.” Adam chuckled. His fingers squeezed hers where they rested on her lap. They always held hands like this in the car, so that was nothing new, but the feeling of excitement and anticipation was. Angel loved surprises, but this one was a little nerve-wracking. Adam hadn’t given her any hints, so she had no idea how long she would be away from Melody. At least she’d been part of dropping Melody off at her parents’ before the blindfold had gone on. Adam seemed nervous as well, though he was trying to pretend he wasn’t.

It was his nerves that made her anxiety spike. If he didn’t know how she was going to react to the surprise…

The impulse to act happy no matter what was there. She wanted him to feel good but knew that faking it wouldn’t do that. So, she really hoped it was a good surprise because she didn’t want to disappoint him.

He let go of her hand, which warned her the next turn was about to be sharp, and she wasn’t wrong. The car came to a halt, indicating they’d pulled into a parking space.

“Can I take off the blindfold yet?” She tried to tilt her head back, hoping to catch a glimpse of where they were, anything to give her a hint.

“No, and stop trying to peek, naughty girl.”

Naughty girl.

A little shiver went down her spine.

Was her libido back one hundred percent? Nope, but it was showing itself now and then. When she got home from ladies’ night, she’d been too tired to do anything, but the next morning, she and Adam had fooled around. Unfortunately, Melody’s “my parents are doing something fun without me” Spidey senses had gone off. She’d woken up with a loud shriek, effectively cock blocking them… and Angel had been disappointed. A nice feeling to have since there had been a few times in the past when she hadn’t been disappointed about being interrupted, which had made her feel extremely guilty.

Being disappointed they hadn’t been able to finish what they started felt more like her.

So did the lick of anticipation that went through her now. Blindfolds weren’t automatically sexy, but in this case, it was feeling more and more so. Adam had complete control of her—where she was, what she knew—and calling her ‘naughty’ girl added to the heat kindling inside her.

“Wait for me to come around to let you out.” He opened his car door, and Angel huffed impatiently but sat still, waiting. Like a good girl. Pressing her thighs together, she tried not to squirm as she waited for him. The door next to her opened, and she unbuckled herself but let him help her out of the car.

“Turn this way,” he murmured, positioning her where he wanted her. “Okay.” The fabric slipped away from over her eyes, and Angel stared at the back of a building.

It only took her brain a moment to catch up and identify it—they were at the members’ entrance to Stronghold’s sister club, Marquis.

Adam

Waiting for Angel’s reaction, Adam shoved the hand that wasn’t holding hers into his pocket. A sick feeling churned stomach—the worried awareness this could backfire horribly. The last thing he wanted to do was make her feel she was being pressured into having sex because he’d taken her to a sex club.

When she didn’t say anything, staring at the building with her mouth slightly open, his anxiety ratcheted up another few notches.

“We don’t have to stay here tonight. I thought… well, I thought it might be fun. If you wanted to.” That last part was the key point—if she wanted to. She needed to want to, or it wasn’t any fun for him either.

He got his own surprise when she suddenly turned, squealed, and jumped up onto him, wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. The sudden assault nearly knocked him over, and he staggered back a few steps. It didn’t help that his legs went weak with relief, his knees threatening to crumble.

She’s happy. Thank God.

“Are we sleeping over? We’re sleeping over, aren’t we?!” she squealed in his ear, the high pitch nearly deafening him.

Well, shit.

It hadn’t occurred to him this was something else Angel had felt she was missing out on. Marquis had officially opened the same night Melody had been born. All their friends had been to spend the night at least once.

He made a mental note to buy Patrick and Olivia something nice as a thank you for giving him a heads up about the room.
