I swallow hard as that vibration gets harder, more violent. Something magnetic settles over my pussy, dragging on my already swollen clit. I’m so goddamn wet, and Atlas is turned on, too…and huge, if the growing bulge in his pants is any indication.

“Please,” I gasp.

And then it’s gone just as quickly as it arrived.

Atlas finishes his drink and puts it down beside him, then glances out at the party like he’s suddenly remembered there are other people here. He brushes his hair back, but that single stubborn curl remains on his silver forehead. His eyes flash so many colors I can’t even keep track of them.

He stands.

“I think it’s high time you were shown to your rooms,” he says.

I gape at him, barely able to keep up. My core is throbbing painfully, my inner walls clenching and begging to be filled. “But the party’s just started, hasn’t it?”

“The party begins and ends when I say it does,” he says. “And I have other things on my mind.”

“Uh…I—okay,” I mumble.

He turns and walks through the crowd, slicing through it with two guards on either side. The remaining two stay with me, a few more falling in to flank us as they guide me after Atlas. I realize that Corvus is one of them, a shadow stalking around behind me, all the guards preventing anyone from touching or speaking to me.

Keon is waiting at the curtain around the spiral staircase, a smirk on his face. He’s the only one that gets in my space, the guards not bothering with him—so I guess they don’t see him as a threat, or maybe they know they can’t stop the deviant prince. He grabs me by the arm and pulls me in, his lips brushing the shell of my ear as he whispers something to me.

“Have fun, littlearaske.”

My jaw drops and I stare at him as I’m drawn away, then the curtain closes behind me.

Becausearaskeis the Aelyd equivalent of “spider”—and it makes me think that, maybe, Keon knows something he isn’t supposed to.

I don’t have much time to think about Keon’s words, though I certainly feel his gaze trailing me as we turn a corner into a large hallway that leads to a wide open space. An intricate silver archway carved with precision and covered with what looks like real flowers leads to another corridor, a small row of doors at either side of us.

“What is this?” I ask when I realize I have no idea which way to go.

“Your rooms,” he says. “These were designed to spec in order to make you comfortable here. Solis is dangerous, and while it’s not my intention to keep you prisoner, I thought it was in your best interest to be entertained while you were here.”

“So this is like…an apartment?”

Atlas looks at me. “I suppose,” he says. “Take the first one to your right.”

There’s absolutely no part of me that wants to disobey him. I do as he tells me, taking a step toward the door and feeling his gaze scrutinize me as I do. I’m just opening a fucking door, I shouldn’t be this bothered about it. I look up at his face and he waves his hand next to his face, which makes his bodyguards look at each other.

I don’t recognize the man to his left, but the one to his right is Corvus. I guess I was so focused on Atlas that I hadn’t noticed him before—and I’m relatively certain he had another bodyguard accompanying him the rest of the night. Corvus must’ve swapped posts with the man assigned to watch him all night, perhaps thinking that I might be in danger.

But it probably has more to do with making sure that I’m doing my job.

“I’ll stay,” Corvus says, obviously understanding Atlas’ hand gesture better than I did.

“And me,” another guard says.

Just like that, the idea that Corvus and I might take him out right here and now vanishes. Maybe he sends guards away like this often, but it doesn’t seem to me like Atlas is ever without protection.

Untilnow.

I do plan to kill him, I just need him to tell me where Layla is first. With Corvus watching over me, it might be a little trickier to extract information.
