“Where should we start?” His hand moves from my elbow to my side, his knuckles brushing precariously close to my tethered breasts.

We’re toe-to-toe, yet not close enough to satisfy the agonizing ache between my legs. My heart pounds perilously fast, leaving me breathless and lightheaded. I’m teetering on the edge of something dangerous yet irresistible. I'm caught in his spell, with instinct only guiding my actions.

“Take a chance,” the voice in my head whispers. “Be badass and bold.”

I slide my hand up his torso and cup his whiskered jaw. I brush my thumb over his lower lip, my intention clear. He pulls me closer with his free hand on my hip, and I lean into his solid chest while lifting to my toes.

“Be daring.” My eyelashes flutter closed. The last thing I see before my lips touch his is raw desire in his feral eyes.

Connor

I pull her close, gathering her in my arms so we're crushed together without the slightest space between us. My lips bruise against hers, needy and frenzied. I've thought about this kiss since I saw her across the crowded room a week ago.

She mewls as the tip of my tongue swipes across hers, spurring my heart to a manic beat. She's sweeter than I imagined. The ideal treat for my lonely soul. Our kiss gets out of hand quickly, and I'm lost in her touch, sound, and smell of her. She overwhelms my senses, leaving me with nothing but instinct to rely on.

I lace my fingers in her hair and cradle her neck in my palm while learning the terrain of her curvy figure with my body and free hand. My groin throbs against her stomach, lengthening with every taste and breath she offers me. When she grinds against me, purring like a kitten, I unravel.

There isn’t a shred of decency left in my bones. My hands drop to her hips, and I knead my fingers into her fleshy ass. She follows suit, digging her fingertips into my back. I suck her bottom lip into my mouth and nip with my teeth. She groans, leaning her head back to give me access to her jaw, neck, and collarbone.

I gulp hard hot breaths, willing myself to slow down and take my time. She pants and moans as she grinds against my manhood. I’m rock hard and near the breaking point when her breath hitches.

“Stop. Connor, stop.” She tenses as she arches her back and clutches my shirt in her fist. “We can’t do this. Not here. Not like this.”

Her body continues to move against me, begging for more. But her words stop me cold. I loosen my grip on her ass and hold her, unmoving as my brain scrambles to make sense of what’s occurred.

I'm a decent human being who takes calculated risks, but not without planning and forethought. I don't throw myself at women or dry hump them in public settings. Technically, the community center isn't open to the public at the moment, but frisking Ginger isn't the task Killian sent me here to do.

Ginger’s forehead flops to my shoulder, and her body relaxes against me. I tuck her head under my chin and rub her back with my palm, soothing away any doubt she harbors.

"I don't know what came over me." Her voice trembles as she catches her breath. She draws her head back to look me in the eye. Her swollen lips and whisker-burned cheeks blaze red as fire, with freckled embers dotting her features. "I can give you a minute if you need to take care of that."

Her eyes dart downward, and an awkward chuckle rumbles from my gut. My jeans need some adjustment, but there's not a chance in hell I'm going to jack off in the bathroom while she waits.

"I'll manage." I arch an eyebrow, and a growly laugh tickles my words. A weak smile stretches across her face. "Do you need a minute?"

She smacks my chest with her palm, and the grin widens until we're both laughing.

“I don’t usually...” She blinks and rolls her eyes. “You know.”

“Lure unsuspecting men into your secret lair with the promise of tacos in exchange forhardlabor?”

She smirks and swats at me again. “Tacos were your idea.”

"Trust me. I've had ideas about what we're doing long before I suggested tacos." I finger her hair, twirling it around my fingers. The tight coil in my belly loosens as my breath finds an easy rhythm.

"Me, too. But not here, like this." She holds me in her gaze, the smile now sober. She smooths the wrinkles on my shirt as she glides her hand across my chest, and I want her to touch me like that everywhere. "I like you, Connor. I'm a bit out of practice, but not desperate. Something about you speaks to my heart, and I let it guide me without thinking."

I brush my knuckles against her cheek, desperate to spill the secrets of my heart. But love’s too fragile a thing to blurt out so soon. I can’t tell her I fell in love the moment I saw her. That kind of magic only happens in fairytales.

“I like you, too.” Her lashes flutter closed as I kiss her nose, claiming a little piece of her one kiss at a time.
