“Me too. Link mine as well. My father is the reason he died, and I should repay the price with mine as well,” Maverick demands more than asks.

Damien turns to Sebastian, tears in his eyes. “We’ve worked so hard to be here now, open in our relationship. I love you just as much as a mate and though my life span is long, it will never match yours,” He turns to Cafell before finishing, “Link me as well. It should pay back a great deal of the debt to the fates.”

“A life without my mates will be a lonely one. There’s no desire to be immortal when you don’t have the people you love, your family,” Sebastian says, causing his family to gasp in shock.

“Sebastian, are you sure?” his mother asks.

“Yes, Mother. I love you and I know it will break your heart, but this is my life, my choice. I choose my mate and our family.”

“Very well, everyone but Shay and her mates, clear the room, please.” Everyone shuffles out, the men holding firm, as the women sob, both out of happiness and at knowing what every one of us is giving up to bring back one.

“Okay, take a seat. You will be dizzy, confused, and then blackout. You will all sleep while your life forces are attached to Shay and when I wake you, Hunter will be alive, his wound repaired, but a scar in place to forever remind you of what happened today. One last time, are you all in agreement and ready?”

“Yes,” I reply, with the guys responding the same and everyone interlocks their hands, linking up together like a chain.

“Very well, then let’s begin” Cafell begins to speak in a language I’ve never heard of before. The words are calming, and just as she said I become dizzy, feeling the need to lay back just as everything goes silent and the world goes black.

Epilogue

Shay

Wakingafterthespellto see Hunter awake was one of the most amazing moments of my life. We spent the next three days coming to terms with what happened and the aftermath before picking up our beautiful daughter; we knew we never wanted to hide what happened from her and what it means for the future, but we decided we would do it when she was much older.

I asked Hunter once what he remembered about death. He told me that he never left when he saw the bright light that would take him to salvation. He chose to stay, his soul staying close by me until the day he knew we could cross over together. He also wasn’t happy about my offering to trade my life for his.

It’s been four weeks since that fateful day. True to Beba’s words, she took me to see that Mr. Michaelson was still imprisoned and being tortured. Seeing that filled me with some relief, but today we deal with my parents. Maverick stated he could place the same spell on them, but tweak it a little. After debating, I chose to do that. He had no power, so he wasn’t a threat in that department. We wiped all memory of me and Chelle from his and my mother’s memory, and then Damien went even further and glamoured them with a new appearance and dropped them in a small town in Europe. To the world, Mr. and Mrs. Harper had died in an unfortunate plane crash, so badly burned they couldn’t be identified.

We held a funeral, one only a few came to. No tears were shed, I knew they were alive, but I don’t think I would have, even if they were dead. My parents were dead to me long ago, and I had already mourned that relationship.

Tala had gone back to her pack with two bodyguards following close behind. Every time we tried to corner her about who and what she truly was, she shrugged us off, stating it was a story for another day.

I shared with the guys how Hunter had told me about them wanting a mating ceremony in front of the pack and that I was officially accepting it. Beba and I have already started planning. Excitement doesn’t express how I feel about it, and today is a great day because I’m sharing some pretty amazing news. I have them gathered around the table with a huge box for them to open. Chelle and Beba stand on either side of me, they know what’s in the box.

“So do we get a clue about what's in this huge thing?” Hunter asks with a raised eyebrow as a grin appears on his face.

“Life changing. That’s all I’m giving you,” I tell them, as I move my hands in a hurry-up fashion.

They all start ripping the paper off of the box, then Ryder takes hold of the tape, ripping it the rest of the way open. The box is filled with styrofoam popcorn packing bubbles and they all start digging rapidly through them in search of the gift. Sebastian finds it before the others, opening his hand and examining it, before handing it off to Damien and rushing around the table, taking me in his arms, and swinging me around in a circle.

Damien’s words are what halt him in his steps, as he sets me back down on the floor.

“Is this for real? You’re pregnant. We’re having another baby?”

All I can do is nod my head yes as I laugh and cry all at the same time.

“Why are y’all acting like you didn’t know? I told you that you had to protect Mommy and him so the bad man wouldn’t hurt them,” Chelle pipes up like it’s common knowledge everyone should know.

“We’re having a boy. We’ve got a boy and a girl. When are you due?” Ryder asks excitedly.

“A baby, a family, and a mating ceremony. Fuck yeah,” comes from Hunter, and my eyes tear up, knowing that we almost didn’t have him here to celebrate this amazing news.

I thank the fates every day we do. Sometimes those vague prophecies bring the most amazing things to you.
