“I hope the blush on your cheeks means you are looking forward to our wedding night as much as I am,” he murmured as her father welcomed the congregation to his daughter and Alaric’s wedding.
“Possibly more.” She lightly chided his willpower these past few weeks.
Alaric chuckled. “If I do not make love to you very soon, I fear I am in danger of going completely insane.”
Grace’s smile widened as he freely admitted what his stubbornness had cost him. “We should be free to leave as soon as we have cut the wedding cake.”
Their wedding breakfast was to take place on the Redding estate several miles away, with all in the church congregation invited to join them there. Grace’s adopted father was to then spend the night there with the Harper family, George having stated a wish to become better acquainted with the gentleman who had been such a loving father to his sister.
Grace’s beloved Finn was to remain overnight at the estate with her father, George and his family, and Alaric’s two wolfhounds, Zeus and Cerberus. The two huge dogs were more than happy to follow wherever the smaller dog led, the three of them having become firm friends.
Grace and Alaric were to spend their wedding night alone at the vicarage before collecting the dogs in the morning and traveling to the Melborne estate in Worcester. Once ensconced there, the two of them intended spending several weeks enjoying each other and exploring every pleasure together.
“I believe we have a few formalities to get through before you reach that part of the proceedings.” Grace’s father, having finished his welcome speech to the guests, now stood before the two of them with raised eyebrows, the twinkle in his gaze indicative of his teasing.
Formalities and heartfelt vows, which would unite Grace and Alaric for the rest of their lives.
In the same way their bodies were united that evening.
With burning desire.
With wild passion.
But most of all, with enduring and everlasting love.
