“I’m intoxicated by the way ye smell, leannán,” he murmurs, pressing another kiss to my temple. With a smirk, he’s gone. I’m left here, squirming with need at his admission and confused as hell by my body’s reaction.

Carmen smiles warmly at me when I enter the dressing room.

“Thanks for taking my sets the other night, Fi. I know it was short notice.”

I return her warm smile, dropping my purse onto my dressing table. “Not at all. I’m always happy for extra shifts.”

Carmen nods, understanding in her eyes. She won’t say anything about swapping any shifts with me. Carmen’s a single mom. She needs all the sets she can get. Besides, Carmen wouldn’t do anything to risk Ronan’s wrath. It would piss him off and get her fired or her shifts cut, and, as I said, she needs them.

Ronan isn’t back by the time it’s my set, but Liam and Niall are sitting at Ronan’s usual table, and Mellie is here too. Beaming at me, she waves a stack of fives while Niall scowls at her.

Strutting out, I’m back in my lacy teddies with the see-through cups. It’s not topless, and Ronan doesn’t like them, but he hasn’t said Icouldn’twear them. So there’s that.

When I finish my set, Mellie shoves the stack of fives excitedly in my hand. I flash her a tight smile. I’m going to be able to afford rent this week.

I hate that I have to rely on Mellie to make rent. Niall doesn’t look happy about it either, but he doesn’t try to take my money off me. Liam nods, lifting his eyes to me.

“I’ll be in the dressing room in about twenty minutes, Fi. I’ll give you a lift home.”

Nodding, I hug my cash to my chest, sliding out of the lounge and into the dressing room. I guess Ronan gave him his marching orders.

When Liam pulls out of the parking lot, he glances at me.

“How’s thechattinggoing?”

I roll my eyes at him. How the hell does he know about our chatting today?

“It’s going,” I mumble. Liam flashes a grin at me, arching an eyebrow.

“Both ways?”

I narrow my eyes at him. “What did you do?”

Liam has the audacity to lookamusedright now.

“Nothing,” he laughs with a shrug. “I just wanted to know if he talked back to you. You can’t have a conversation if only one of you is communicating.”

My eyes narrow further. That sounds like a Tiggy-ism. Liam was her bodyguard formonths. Thatbitch!

“This is Tiggy’s idea, isn’t it?” I ask accusingly.

Liam shifts uncomfortably, concentrating very hard on the road ahead of him.

“Does it matter if it works?” he mutters, almost too low for me to hear him, but Idohear him and reward him with a mutinous glare.

Screw Liam, and screw Tiggy for that matter. I almost want to scrap the whole “chatting” thing, except it was nice.

I’m intoxicated by the way ye smell, leannán.My breath catches as the echo of Ronan's words floats through my head. My stomach clenches, as doeslower.

Yeah, I’m not ready to give up on the chatting. But I don’t think I’ll tell Liam and Tiggy about how it’s going from here on out. It’s none of their damn business.

Chapter Six

FIONA

As I walk through the club, my tennis shoes slap on the polished floors. I always get here ridiculously early. I like the atmosphere here, and Mellie used to be here. Also, it’s a nicer place to hang out than my apartment building.

Knocking open the dressing room door with my elbow, I dig through my purse, looking for the new lipstick I bought yesterday. It’s the perfect shade to match my favorite lacy teddy with the see-through cups. I wonder if Ronan will notice that my lipstick matches my lingerie. Probably not. He'll probably be too busy glaring at everyone else to watch me dance.
