“Fiona,” he smirks back. “Let’s go.”

Of course he’s dropping us at the restaurant. I throw Mellie a glare. She shrugs, shaking her head. As we slide into the SUV, buckling in, she glares at Niall.

“Remember. You have to stay at the bar. You can’t come near our table if you're coming inside.”

“I remember, amhuirnín,” Niall sighs, sounding like the most put-upon man in the world. Of course he’s staying at the restaurant. He wouldn’t let Mellie drive to Roxbury and back on her own, and, honestly, that’s probably the best policy.

There is a valet at the restaurant. I’m glad I didn’t wear jeans. He trembles like a leaf under Niall’s gaze, his eyes snapping immediately away from Mellie and me. Niall hands over his keys with a growl, taking Mellie’s hand and leading us into the restaurant.

Mellie has a reservation, and Niall devours her mouth, watching as we move away from him with heated eyes.

“Here’s your table,” the hostess replies, her eyes darting back to where Niall has seated himself at the bar, watching us carefully. Thankfully, he’s out of earshot. I don’t want him listening to what I’m about to tell Mellie.

The hostess waits until we’re seated, slowly handing over menus. Mellie moves to take hers, but the hostess doesn’t let go, drawing Mellie’s gaze up to her.

“If you need help, I can get you out through the bathroom.”

Mellie blinks in surprise while I hide my grin in my water. Of course, that’s what they’re going to think about Niall’s overprotectiveness. Understanding dawns on Mellie’s face, and she flushes, looking embarrassed.

“Oh. No. I like it.”

The hostess looks skeptical, but she releases Mellie’s menu and steps away. “Your server will be with you soon.”

Mellie giggles as she turns to me, rolling her eyes. “Every. Time.”

Smirking, I cast my eyes on my menu, my mouth watering. Something else catches my attention.

“There aren’t any prices. That means they’rebad.”

Mellie wrinkles her nose. “Don’t worry about that. If Niall wants to stalk us, he’s damn well paying.”

The server appears quickly, taking our orders, casting another worried look over Mellie, who ignores it. They must have been gossiping about Niall out the back.

As she melts away, Mellie turns to me with sparkling eyes. “Spill.”

My cheeks flame, and I study my silverware carefully, straightening it compulsively.

“So…we did it.”

Mellie giggles, rolling her eyes when I look up at her. “I know. Details, please.”

You could fry eggs on my face. “Uh. It was nice.”

“Was it…big?”

“Uh, yes. I guess. I don’t have anything to compare it to.”

Mellie sticks her tongue between her teeth, plucking up her butter knife and holding it between her fingers, wiggling it. Oh. Um. Still burning from the inside out, I hurriedly nod, my eyes glued to the table again.

“Good for you, girl,” Mellie laughs, dropping her knife on the table. “Just the two times?”

“Tonight.”

“As in…later? Or before?”

“Before.”

“You insatiablewhore. I love it!”
