“Ye disobeyed what I asked, Fiona,” I say stiffly. She starts with the use of her name. “I thought ye liked working here?”

Blinking in shock, Fiona looks up at me, her blue eyes wide. “I-I do.”

“And yet, ye can’t follow simple instructions yer boss gives ye.”

Her plump lips part as her mouth drops open in surprise.

“I gave ye an order, and ye disobeyed the first chance ye thought ye could get away with it.” I study her carefully as a tinge of red appears on her cheeks. “I’m disappointed. I thought more of ye.”

My stiff tone matches my words, disappointment bleeding through. Fiona’s slender shoulders slump. There is a flash of something in her face before she conceals it, hurt maybe. My heart clenches at the idea that I’ve hurt her, but anger has got us nowhere.

“I’m sorry,” she whispers, her chin dropping. Before it disappears from my view, I catch sight of a wobbling lower lip. Christ.

I place two fingers beneath her chin with a sigh, gently tilting her head up. I bite the inside of my cheek as she starts rapidly blinking, the sheen of unshed tears in her eyes.

Relenting slightly, I bend down and brush my lips over hers.

“Ye go and get cleaned up,” I murmur, lifting my head slightly so my lips are only a hair’s breadth from hers. “Ye still have two more sets tonight. But remember -.”

“No going topless, no lap dances. I promise,” Fiona breathes quickly, cutting me off.

I reluctantly step away from her, watching as she clutches my jacket more securely around her, ensuring her entire torso is completely covered. I can’t help the smug feeling I get seeing her in my clothes.

“I truly am sorry, Ronan. It won’t happen again.” Her tone rings with sincerity.

“Sure, and see that it doesn’t,leannán,”

She hurries past me. I swear there’s a hint of a smile before she swallows it down. When Fiona reaches the door, her hand resting lightly on it, she turns, the slightly haughty look I’m used to seeing crossing her features.

“What happened here,” she gestures between us, “still doesn’t make me your sweetheart.”

The door closes behind her disappearing figure. I grin at the swinging door. Maybe not. But it’s a step in the right fucking direction.

FIONA

I enter the dressing room as Shawna returns from the stage. She glances at me, her eyes dropping to take in my form, clad in Ronan’s leather jacket. They flash back up to my face, lingering on my mouth.

Amusement dances in her eyes as she drops into her chair beside me, tucking her tips into her lockbox.

“Suck his dick to get out of trouble, huh?”

She’s trying very hard not to laugh. Apart from Mellie and Tiggy, Shawna is the closest thing I have to a friend. She started not long before I did and took me under her wing to show me the ropes.

“I think I was already out of trouble by the time I landed on my knees,” I smirk back at her, and she giggles. Tipping her head to the side, she doesn’t speak, but I can see the question in her eyes. I’ve never disclosed my virgin status to anyone, but I’m sure that Shawna guessed.

“So, how was it?”

I flush. Yeah, she’s definitely guessed.

“Different to how I thought it would be.”

Shawna’s grin widens. “Different good? Or different bad?”

I shrug, taking my seat at my mirror. “Different good.”

Her laugh could only be described as a cackle. She’s totally enjoying herself at my expense.

“Welcome to the sexual world, girl,” she drawls, reaching for her lipstick to touch up her flawless face.
