He dipped his fingers into the bowl before smearing some onto his face. “That’s cold!”

I laughed and applied some to my skin as well. “It’s refreshing.”

“Mm-hmm.” Despite his skeptical tone, I could tell he was enjoying himself.

We rinsed our hands, then I led him over to one of the barstools. I draped a towel around his shoulders. “Now for your haircut, sir.” I selected one of my essential oil bottles from the counter. “How do you like the smell of this?” I waved it in front of his nose.

“Mm.” He inhaled slowly. “That’s nice. What is it?”

“Bergamot.” It smelled like oranges and sunshine. Like happiness.

I put a few drops in my hand and then spread it over my palms. I held them up and asked, “May I?”

He tilted his head to the side, curiosity lighting those gorgeous brown eyes. “May you…”

“Touch you?”

A muscle in his jaw tensed, and then he nodded. I stood behind him, and for once, I allowed myself to touch him without hesitation. Without reservations.

I massaged his scalp, reveling in the way he groaned with pleasure. I wondered what else I could do to elicit such a sexy sound. My brain conjured all sorts of ideas as I continued my ministrations.

It felt so nice to be able to do something for Tristan. To take care of him. Not just the kids, but this man.

He seemed stressed lately. And while I knew a big part of it was this investor meeting, I wondered if something more was going on.

“Wow. That feels…” He sighed, his shoulders visibly relaxing as I continued to massage his scalp and his neck. “So good.”

I moved so I could massage his temples, which put my breasts right at his eye level. His breath caressed my skin, and my nipples pebbled in response. When I’d agreed to cut his hair, I’d been nervous about screwing it up. I hadn’t considered how close we’d have to be. How intimate the experience would be.

His hands went to my hips as if to steady me, and I was grateful. Because our proximity and the way he’d been looking at me had me off-kilter. I was supposed to avoid distractions. Especially the man sitting in front of me.

I just needed to focus on Tristan and his needs and ignore my own. I’d already been doing it the past few weeks. How difficult could it be?

He moaned, and the sound went straight to my core. He leaned his head back, mouth opening, the skin around his eyes easing. I wanted to kiss him so damn bad.

So much for ignoring my attraction.

I didn’t care that we were wearing matching avocado face masks. I didn’t care that he was my sister’s husband. I didn’t care…

“This is…Damn. I was just expecting a haircut.”

“Only the best.” I winked. “For my VIP client. Well, my only client, really.”

“Yeah. I should probably pay you extra, huh? This isn’t part of the typical nanny job description.”

“Oh, please. I certainly don’t think of myself as the kids’ nanny. And you know I’m happy to help in any way I can. I appreciate your letting me live here.”

It wasn’t the first time we’d had this conversation. He was adamant about paying me, and I was determined not to let him.

His expression was stern. “Paying you is the right thing to do.”

I didn’t want him to pay me. I didn’t want anything. Well, that wasn’t entirely true, but he wasn’t going to give me what I wanted.

“I told you, I’m not accepting your money.”

“AndItold you—” he glowered “—that I won’t accept no for an answer.”

Frustrated and annoyed, I lifted the spray bottle and aimed it at his face.
