But then he gripped the back of my neck, forcing our noses together. “No more orgasms unless they come from me. Do you understand?”

I swallowed hard. Was he serious? And why was that idea such a turn-on?

“Do you—” He maintained his hold on me while he nipped at my collarbone, a slight sting of pain that he soon smoothed with his tongue. “Understand?”

I nodded, eager to answer him. “Yes.”

“I mean it, Elle. Not from another man. Not by your hand.”

“Only in a car. But not from afar.” I giggled, playing off his rhyme.

“Elle,” he growled.

The laughter that had bubbled up died on my lips, replaced by lust. Anticipation. And need.

“I don’t share.”

Why did that growl of possession make me so hot?

But then I thought about the women around town. About Tessa. And my expression turned hard. “Neither do I.”

“Good.” He captured my lips, his kiss both hungry and possessive. To the point that I was dizzy with desire.

He released his hold on my neck, smoothing his hand down my back. Where his touch had been rough, commanding, only moments before, it was nothing but a gentle caress now. I liked that shift. That unpredictability and element of play. I didn’t know if Tristan realized he was doing it consciously or not, but he was giving me exactly what I needed.

“What about all of your ‘admirers’ in town?” I was going to have to pretend to be disinterested while every woman in the AV hit on him.

He lifted a shoulder. “There’s only one woman I’m interested in, and she’s standing before me.”

“Technically, I’m sitting,” I teased, the intensity of this moment, of the conversation, making me squirm.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Don’t make me spank you.”

“Mm.” I smirked, challenging him as I raised my eyebrows.

“Elle,” he growled. “Stop distracting me.”

Oh, I planned to do a hell of a lot more distracting if that was the reaction I got.

“Maybe you need to work on your focus,” I said, cupping Tristan through his pants.

“My focus—” He swallowed. Eyes narrowed. “Ever since you came back into my life, my focus has been shit.”

“Oh yeah?” I asked, wanting to hear more.

“You drive me crazy,” he said, running his hands over my body. “I can’t think straight. All I want, all I see—is you.”

I smiled, pleased by his words. By the emotion and need bleeding from his tone. If I’d had any remaining doubts about Tristan, he’d just dispelled them.

“But we have to keep this a secret,” he continued. “Especially from the kids. I don’t want to confuse them.”

“Absolutely.” I nodded. “I would never want to do anything that might confuse or hurt them.” I thought of dinner tonight and how nice it had been. How much I’d been enjoying my stay, even before thisthingwith Tristan.

He brought my hand to his lips, kissing the tips of my fingers. My palm. It both tickled and aroused me, and I couldn’t wait to see what he’d do next.

“And no matter what, I need you to promise that this won’t affect your relationship with Maddox and Savannah.”
