Page 83 of A Love Like That

It was funny how much had changed since losing Tessa. Things I used to love weren’t as important. Even something as simple as my favorite beer—hell, my favorite color—was different.Iwas different.

And while a big part of that was due to losing Tessa, another part had come from finding Elle. From rediscovering myself in her.

By the time I arrived home late Sunday evening, I was more relaxed than I had been in a long time. The weekend had been a success. I’d secured an investor’s backing, and I wasn’t going to lose my company or my house.

And it hadn’t taken compromising my morals as I’d feared. Celeste had hit on me, as I’d expected. But I’d made it clear I wasn’t interested.

Olen had been right; the weekend on her yacht had been an excellent opportunity to network. I’d connected with Knox Crawford, the owner of LA’s pro soccer team, the LA Leatherbacks. We’d bonded over our love of the AV—he had a vacation home in Blue River. And he’d been excited about Lockwood Industries and our technology.

As quietly as I could, I unlocked the back door and set my bag just inside. Rex lifted his head from his bed then fell back asleep just as quickly.

I crept farther inside, the TV flickering from the living room. I peeked over the couch to discover Elle curled up beneath a blanket, asleep. I watched her a moment then sat down and kissed her softly.

“Hey.” I brushed her hair away from her face, watching her expression change as she slowly came to and realized I was home.

“Mm. Hello.” She stretched, smiling as she did so.

“Were you waiting up for me?” I asked, realizing just how much I hoped the answer was yes. How much I loved having someone to come home to. Not just someone—Elle.

“Trying to,” she whispered. “How’d it go?”

I missed you.

“Great. I secured an investor.”

“Oh my god, Tristan.” She popped up from the couch and wrapped her arms around me. Her body was warm. Welcoming. Delicious. “That’s fantastic.”

“Thank you.” Itwasfantastic, but I was still stressed.

I may have saved my company from ruin, and we wouldn’t have to give up the house, but I couldn’t keep the one thing that meant more to me than all that—Elle.

I held her close, continuing to stroke her hair. Mostly to reassure myself she was still here. Still with me. Spending even a few days apart had made me realize just how much I was going to miss her.

I sat back down on the couch, this time with her straddling me. She played with my hair, traced my features. Having her in my arms had my cock standing up and taking notice.

“Oh hello,” she teased with a little wiggle.

That didnothelp. Nor did the way her breasts jiggled in her thin tank top, her sleep shorts having risen up her thighs.

“Hi.” I snagged her lips for a kiss. “I missed you. Can you tell?”

She giggled and started rocking against me. “Oh, I can tell.”

I gripped her hips, fighting for control even as she continued to rub her pussy against my erection. This was a bad idea. If the kids opened their door…

“Upstairs,” I whispered, giving her ass a tap. “Now.”

She shook her head, her eyes rolling back. “I don’t want to stop. I don’t want to move.”

I switched off the TV and grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her before standing. She gave a little squeak of surprise, and then I carried her up the stairs.

As soon as we were in my room with the door locked, I set her down. “Shorts off.”

“What about my underwear?” she asked as I unfastened my pants and shoved them and my boxers down my thighs.

“Keep them on.”

I sat on the chair in the corner and flicked on the lamp so I could see her. She turned her back to me and slid her shorts over her hips, bending at the waist to give me a good view of her ass.
