“Come on,” Rose said. “Do you really think he’s going to want to have drinks and conversation at someone’s house right away?”

“Damn it,” Poppy said. “Good point.”

“Two for two,” Rose said.

“If you’re so good at this,” Jasmine said, “what is your suggestion, Rose?”

“Straight shooter. Tell him what is going on. That nothing needs to be complicated so you aren’t making it this way either. You’re reaching out and will do whatever he’s comfortable with. End of story.”

“I like that approach,” she said. “I think he’d appreciate it.”

“Do you think?” Violet asked. “What if he thinks you feel bad for him?”

“I don’t though,” she said.

“And that is why you haven’t seen a naked man other than on TV in a year, Violet,” Poppy said, giggling. “Not everyone fits the same mold.”

“Guess you told me,” Violet said, smirking. “I’m going to open the shop. You guys talk, and, Jasmine, fill me in.”

“She’s having fun with you,” Rose said.

“I know. We get along great. You think I should text him today?”

“Yes,” Poppy and Rose both said at once.

She pulled her phone out of the back pocket of her jeans. She normally wore jeans to work or shorts when it was really hot. She was in the greenhouses or the back room and it got hot and she didn’t always stay clean.

“All right. Let me think of this. I might as well do it now and then go about my day working rather than waiting for him to reply.”

She started to type and then erased it and went back to typing again.

“Geez,” Rose said. “Simple. How about, ‘I said I’d reach out and I am. Nothing complicated. You pick time and place if you want to try for some more conversation.’”

“That’s perfect, Rose,” Poppy said.

Rose took a bow. “I’m three for three and I’m going back to my office now that my head is full of praise from my sister.”

“Brat,” Poppy said. When Rose was gone, Poppy said, “That was good.”

“It was. I’m typing it now.” She took a deep breath, let it out and hit send. “There. Now I can get to work and put it from my mind.”

She put the phone back in her pocket and then turned to leave. She didn’t even get to the doorway before it vibrated and she pulled it out.

Poppy came rushing over to look over her shoulder. “Is it him?”

She laughed. “It is. He said tonight.”

“Wow. That’s all he said?”

“No, he said tonight, you pick the place and time and I’ll be there.”

“That’s awesome.”

“Yeah, it is. Except where the heck should we go?”

“One of the parks,” Poppy said.

“What?”
