“Have your parents visited?” he asked.

“No. They don’t come to America often. They did for all of our college graduations. Well, Mark, Dahlia’s and mine. Ivy didn’t graduate so they haven’t visited in a while. Chase will late this summer. He’s starting med school next. He loaded up to finish early.”

“Sounds like a smart kid,” he said.

“Very.”

“Are you ready to go? I realize now it’s probably going to be busy this weekend. I should have thought this out more.”

“It’s fine. Busy is good for business for us both.”

“It is,” he said.

“Maybe this wasn’t a good time for you more than me?”

“I’m making the time,” he said. “Turning over a new leaf.”

She smiled at him and grabbed her purse. “I want to say that is great but don’t do it for me. You’ve got to do things for yourself.”

“I know,” he said. “I am. I guess I’m doing it for both of us. Just like this.”

He reached for her and pulled her close. Her body bumped into his and she let out a laugh. The minute his head lowered to hers, she got up on her toes and put her arms around his neck.

Yeah, they both wanted this and he was glad he’d gone with his gut.

Just the feeling of a woman in his arms again was bringing back so much joy he’d been missing.

He’d started off slow like last time, but she seemed to not like that as much and nudged his lips open, her tongue sliding in, her body pressing to his.

He groaned and started to kiss her as if he was an eager teen that was tired of waiting for his time to come.

Their bodies pressed against each other and he felt his dick starting to rise and had no control at all.

Jasmine must have felt it too and pushed back some, her breath coming in heavy. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”

“Did you not want to? I guess the question is did you do it for you or for me?”

She laughed at him this time. Laughed so hard there were tears in her eyes and his dick settled right back down. Shit. He couldn’t get a handle on this dating thing.

“Me,” she said. “And you. I just didn’t want you to think I was pressuring you. And I’m not a tease so I kind of felt bad and that is why I jumped back.”

“We’ve established it’s been a while for us both. I don’t always have a lot of control of my body, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to push you if you aren’t ready.”

She grabbed his hand and threaded their fingers together. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d held hands with someone. There was joy in that too.

“I know you won’t. Why don’t we go to dinner and talk? Let’s keep it simple. We’ll go at a pace that works for us and if we have a plan and it detours from that, oh well. Isn’t that what life is about?”

“It is, but I get the feeling you like to have that control,” he said.

“I think we both do, but sometimes in life it’s worth letting it go. The control is still there, but because we know there is a possibility, it’s easier to let go. If that makes sense.”

They left her apartment and drove to a restaurant on the water. They’d been told it’d be a twenty-minute wait. If they’d like a drink at the bar, the hostess would place the order and it’d be brought out.

Jasmine had gotten wine, Wesley got a beer and they found a bench outside in the front of the restaurant while they waited for the disk in their hand to go off.

He went back to their early conversation. “I agree with you. Control is worth letting go.”

She nodded her head. “Since you are new to this area. Can I ask where you live? Did you buy a house or are you renting a place? My guess is you like the water and that is why you bought the marina. Lots of water and boats in Tampa.”
