“Courting me?” I ask, confused. “This is stalking.”
“A little,” he says nodding.
“I don’t understand. Why me? We’ve met one time.”
“It’s been longer than that for me, Courtnee.”
“What?”
“It’s been weeks. I know it’s crazy.”
“Maybe not that crazy.”
“You’re not afraid of me?”
“No. Should I be? Are you going to kill me and get away with it?” I ask, sarcastically.
“You looked me up.”
“Of course, I did. It’s 2022.”
“And you’re still not afraid of me?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know.”
“Yes you do. Tell me.” His hand run up and down my arms, slowly. Sending an unknown thrill through me.
“I really don’t.”
“Yes, you do. You feel this between us. You must. I felt this invisible tether between us the moment I saw you get out of your car all all those weeks ago. Tell me you feel it too.”
I stare at him for a long moment and then lick my lips. He growls and everything in my body lights up.
Oh, shit. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
CHAPTER3
NUNZIO
Tell me you feel it too. I beg her to in my mind, but still, she stares at me. I am about to come unglued when she nods, almost imperceptibly.
“I feel it, but…”
“But nothing, baby. But nothing.” Then my lips are on hers, my hands on her hips trying to get her as close to me as possible. She’s stiff at first, but then she relaxes, her hands going into my hair. Running my hands up her back, I reach her hair and pull of her beanie, tossing it away. I want to feel it. I pull her hair out of the ponytail it’s in, and run my fingers through the dark, silky tendrils that is streaked with blonde highlights. I just knew it would be silky. She opens her mouth and I sweep my tongue inside. She doesn’t know what to do, so I take the time to teach her.
Fuck. Her innocence is mine.
I pull back from her and put my hands on her still cold cheeks.
“I… I don’t know what I’m doing,” she admits.
“It’s okay, baby. I’ve got you now and I’m never letting you go.”
“Promise?” she asks, her voice small and shaky. Fuck, please don’t cry right now. I know that I couldn’t handle that right now.
