Shawn followed us to the kitchen and slid onto one of the stools at my small kitchen island bar.

“I never did pay you for your winnings last night,” Shawn stated as Lucas shot me another look.

“Don’t worry about it, dude, it was winners’ luck,” Lucas deadpanned.

I gave a tight smile and quickly got to work making some coffee.

“What do you have planned for today, Shawn?” I asked as I placed a coffee mug in front of him.

He gave me a warm smile. “I’m not sure.”

Before he could go on, the front door opened, and I heard Kristin’s cheerful, and slightly annoying, morning greeting.

“Good morning! Good morning! Good morrrrrning!”

She came to an abrupt halt when she saw us all in the kitchen.

Shawn jumped up, a wide grin on his face. “Kristin!”

At the same time, Kristin curled her lip up at Shawn and drawled out, “Shawn.”

When she saw his reaction to her, she looked confused.

Shawn made his way over to her. He took the box of donuts and coffee out of her hands, then took her hands in his. “I tried calling you.”

Kristin’s mouth dropped, and she looked at her hands clasped in Shawn’s, then back up at him.

“I, um, I haven’t checked my voicemail.”

“It’s okay. I was wondering what you were doing today. I thought maybe we could spend the day together.”

Kristin opened her mouth, closed it, then opened it again before asking, “You want to spend the day with me?”

The next thing I knew, Shawn pulled her to him, cupped her face, and kissed her. Not a sweet, peck-on-the-lips kind of kiss. Oh, no, it was a passionate kiss. A heated kiss.

“Oh. My. God.” I whispered.

Lucas leaned in to softly say against my ear, “You don’t know the strength of your own powers, Hollie.”

Smiling, I watched as Kristin melted into Shawn’s embrace. “Apparently not, but look at that kiss!”

Shawn drew back and Kristin seemed to sway for a moment before her eyes snapped open.

“I’ve been thinking about kissing you all night and all morning,” Shawn confessed.

“You…you have?” Kristin stammered as her eyes shot over to me, then back to Shawn.

“Tell me you’ll spend the day with me. I need to be near you. Then maybe you could stay the night with me.”

“Wh-what? Stay the night as in at your house?”

Shawn nodded and took a step closer to Kristin. “I can’t deny my feelings anymore. I need you, Kristin. I need to feel your bare skin against mine again.”

“And he just lost his man card,” Lucas whispered.

Elbowing him in the ribs, I gave him a stern look. “It’s the spell talking.”

“The spell that went wrong!” he whisper-shouted back.
