Well, well, well, I thought with a silent laugh.

My best friend apparently had a holiday hookup in mind. Probably planned on meeting some gorgeous girl on the beach and disappearing for a few hours. I closed the drawer quickly just in case he walked in and caught me snooping.

I wouldn’t say a word.

I took a step back from the dresser, listening to the stillness of the house.

I figured he’d have to reappear at some point, so I went around and sat on the edge of the bed. It was taller than mine, too, and a little softer. I couldn’t help but bounce up and down a couple of times, giggling to myself.

I turned my camera on, tapping the back screen, then started to scan through the dozen or so photos I couldn’t help myself from taking yesterday in town. The buildings we’d walked by, the food stand. The colors were amazing. They’d turned out great, only one or two a little blurred in parts, nothing I couldn’t tweak a little when we got home.

I was so immersed in going through the photos, I almost jumped when I thought I heard a sound off in the corner and turned my head just in time to see Lucas step out of the bathroom…

A very stark-naked Lucas.

My jaw dropped, and he jumped as he saw me sitting there, his hands immediately moving to cover himself. His face flushed a bright red for a moment, even reaching his ears.

Our eyes met for one very long drawn-out moment where neither one of us seemed to know what to do…or how to react.

He was adorable as he stood rooted to the spot, eyes wide as they were still on mine, his damp hair mussed from what had to have been his attempt at drying it with a towel…

“Ah, a very good morning to you, I see…” I said finally. I couldn’t help but laugh to break the sudden easiness.

“Never you mind, missy…” He hurried over, grabbed the clothes I’d missed noticing sitting on the edge of the bed. He yanked the edge of the T-shirt out from under me and turned, sauntering back to the bathroom.

I could smell the strong citrus of his body wash trailing in his wake.

I bit my lip to keep from laughing, admiring the view as he walked away. The man did have a good ass. I glanced beside me and grinned, picking up the black boxers he’d somehow managed to leave behind. Maybe because I’d still kind of been sitting on half of them.

Oops.

“I think you forgot something,” I called.

“Did not.” He’d disappeared from view back into the bathroom.

“You regularly go commando?”

He huffed so hard, I waited for the door to close.

I got up and walked to the doorway, holding them out to him.

He reached out and grabbed them from my hand, the flush still visible on his face. “Thanks.”

“Anytime, Sugar.” I grinned and headed back to the bed. “I already put coffee on. I’ll meet you in the kitchen. We’ll talk breakfast when you get down there.”

I tapped the doorframe as I left the room, giggling to myself.

What a way to start our vacation.

I had the now-strong coffee poured in the extra-large coffee mugs, waiting on the kitchen island for him to appear. I’d set my camera down on the island, too, and had put a couple pieces of bread in the toaster.

I sipped my coffee, waiting to hear Lucas’ approaching footsteps. I picked up my camera—it was almost an unfamiliar feeling to have it back in my hand again. I clicked back on the viewer, frowning as I saw a blurred photo of a carpet. What the heck…I wondered.

I hit the little left arrow.

A pair of blurry legs.

Back…
