Her eyes narrowed. “On what?”

I sat up, my back against the headboard. She followed. “On you. I should’ve probably discussed this with you before I tore your clothes off.”

“Sounds serious.”

It was. I’d never been this serious in my life. “Whatever happens next is up to you. Either this is a one-time thing and I’ll leave you the fuck alone, or it will be a forever deal, and I will never let go of you again.”

Her smile lit up the room, warming me in places that had been frozen solid for ages.

She kissed my cheek. “I think I can live with the forever deal.”

“You say that now, but I wonder if you know what you’re getting yourself into. I’m not an easy man.”

She rolled her eyes. “As if I didn’t already know that.”

I needed her to make this decision cool-headed. That would only be fair. I grabbed her chin, quickly kissed her, hard and deep. When I pulled back, she looked dazed, more pliant. Then again, nothing was fair in love and war.

“Be sure about this, Ekaterina.” I needed her word, her vow. It would be the only time she would get a choice in the matter. “Once you’re mine, there’s no going back. I don’t date. I don’t do break-ups or any of the relationship stuff you read about in your books. You either choose me for life, or this is the first and last night we spend together.”

Her lips pursed, as if she was pondering this. My heart painfully thudded in my chest. I’d never climbed a mountain or attempted to dance on a rope above a canyon. I wondered if it felt like this. No, it couldn’t. This pressure on my chest was much worse. Dropping off a mountain into a ravine only got you killed. Her rejection would make me one of the living dead, hollow from the inside.

She sat up onto her knees. “What if I say yes? Will you still keep me locked up in here?”

I couldn’t help but show a faint smile. My little cat had just realized her power and was entering the negotiation stage. I’d taught her well.

“I will always protect you, no matter what.”

“That’s not an answer, and you know it.”

“If you still choose to stay at the dorm, I will respect that, no matter how much I would hate it. As long as you have my ring on your finger when you go back to the dorms.” I understood her need for normalcy, but I would be damned if I let her leave without tying her to me first.

“Marriage?” She looked surprise. “Already?”

I tensed. “What exactly did you expect when I said ‘forever?’”

“Well, I was thinking we could start dating and—”

I pulled her underneath me and spread her thighs. “I’m not a boy. I will never just date you. It’s all or nothing, Katya.”

She arched her back, grinding into my hardness. “Mmm.”

I pushed inside her and she cried out. “You don’t play fair? I don’t play fair.” I started a punishing rhythm, moving in and out of her. Right as she was on the brink of orgasm, I stopped.

She slapped my butt. “Don’t stop,” she hissed.

My hand went to her throat and I pounded into her until her head lolled on the pillow. Until her moans almost pierced my ears.

“What is your answer?” I barely recognized my voice. It was more of a snarl, almost animalistic. Because that was how she made me feel, like a protective predator.

Her legs clasped around my hips, her heels pushed into my back. She panted as if she’d just climbed a mountain.

Her dainty hand touched my cheek. “Yes, Kristoff. I want to be with you. Always and everywhere.”

I was done for. And so was Katya. I wanted her pleasure and her pain. Her rage and her smile. I wanted everything from her. And I would take it. There was no going back.
