A masculine eyebrow rose up. “Really?” he drawled.

Her cheeks heated angrily. “Yes,” she gritted. “You don’t know me. Not anymore.”

He didn’t look bothered by her statement. His mouth twisted. “I know enough to predict that if I were to take your cell phone, I’d find your notes with the cruise schedule and what you plan to do by the hour.”

She sucked in a breath. He still remembered a lot about her. He had often teased her in the past about her meticulous planning and her need to control things.

“You are wrong,” she lied. “And I don’t plan to give you my cell phone. Ever.”

“Then make sure you carry it with you all the time. It’s for your own safety.”

She didn’t argue about that. Instead, she gave him a dismissive glance.

“I skipped breakfast since we started early,” she said. “I would like to freshen up and have an early lunch.”

“Okay. Then freshen up.”

“I will, after you get out of my suite.”

“Why?”

He was deliberately riling her up. She knew it. He used to be that way even when they were together.

“Because I would like to freshen up withoutyouhovering over me inmysuite!”

He looked at her for a long moment without saying anything. And then, he began walking out of the bedroom. Just when she was about to sigh in relief, he turned.

“Actually, this is my suite as well. We’ll be sharing it during the cruise. It’s the only way I can remain close and protect you.”

Shocked, she ran behind him to the living room.

“What! I can’t share the cabin suite with you!”

“You can,” he drawled.

She gritted her teeth. “You know damn well what I meant! I can but I don’twantto share the cabin with you!”

“Too bad. You will.”

She wanted to punch the bossy jerk.

“Why does it have to be you?” she demanded. “There are many other ex-military men or trained bodyguards or even cruise security that I can hire to protect me. I want you replaced with them.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Will you allow them to share the cabin suite with you?”

“Of course not!”

As soon as she said that she wanted to smack herself.

His mouth twisted. “That’s why. And besides I doubt if you will listen to any other person.”

“I’m not going to listen to you either!”

“You will because you know it’s for your protection. By the way, we are booked into the suite as Mr. and Mrs. Rathod.”

“What!” She felt like a broken record repeating the same shocked word. She already felt too worked up. Just when she thought he couldn’t push her any further, the jerk always did, even in the past.

“We can’t risk panicking other passengers by saying there’s a threat to you and that I’m providing you security. It’s easier to pretend to be a married couple to stay close.”
