Finally, Lyle. He sighed. Looking at him now, Phantom saw new lines around his eyes, heavier bags under his eyes. Bloodshot eyes. Fuck, he was drinking again, and not small amounts.

“Aye,” Lyle said eventually.

There was a collective sigh of relief, and a “fucking finally!” huffed from Rita.

Colt smiled. “Okay, big party this weekend to celebrate us joining the twenty-first century.”

Rita playfully punched Rafe on his arm and grinned. Jared shook his head, smiling.

“Next, Sully.”

“Yeah, let him in, he’s got a sweet bike and he’s always helpful,” Ash said.

Rita paused, looking thoughtful. “He can be a bit of a dick sometimes though, blunt…”

“What, turned you down for a fuck, Rita?” Lyle teased.

She flipped him the bird without looking at him.

Rafe frowned. “Huh, I’ve never seen that side of him, he’s always cool and calm, he’d be a good influence to have around here.”

Phantom lifted his head, too. He didn’t know Sully well, but the guy seemed sound enough to him.

“I agree, I’ll sponsor him if you like,” Jared volunteered.

Colt nodded. “That would be good, brother, if you could. Alright, I’ll let you break the news to him, he’s swinging by later.”

April bounced the baby, who was gurgling quietly now.

“We’ve made so much progress today.” Colt said, surprised.

“Fill the committee, Colt,” Lyle interjected, killing Colt’s high.

He clenched his jaw.

“Don’t know why you’ve dragged your heels on it-”

“’Cause we aren’t ready yet, it’s still early days, we need more members-”

“Maybe people will join if they see it’s an actual MC with a fully fledged committee,” Lyle challenged.

Colt threw daggers with his gaze at Lyle. “Fine, I need a VP, a Secretary, A Treasurer, a Road Captain…”

“You wanna be Secretary, honey?” Lyle drawled at Rita.

She fixed Lyle with a stare that could dry out the Gulf of Mexico. “Why, ‘cause I’m a girl and Secretary is a girl’s job? Fuck that and fuck you, Lyle,” she spat.

He rolled his eyes. Phantom blinked. In fact, was Lyle drunk right now? He was being a bit of a dick.

“I’ll be Secretary, it’s not all that different from running a business and I’ve been doing that for years,” Jared interjected, trying to diffuse the building tension between Lyle and Rita.

“Thanks, brother.” Colt nodded.

“I’ll do the one with the least amount of work.” Rafe tipped back on the two back legs of his chair.

“Helpful,” Lyle said sarcastically.

“I’ve got the Glasshouse to run, and performance nights, too, don’t forget-” Rafe said.
