She clucked her tongue, looking mad at him.

Teasing her was so easy, not to mention, highly entertaining. And he couldn’t deny the zing of excitement he felt while bantering with her like this. His life had been a carousel of endless women so far, none of whom he’d thought of again. But Tiya, she was different. She made him feel something more. And no matter they had a finite deadline, he just wanted to have some fun while he was with her.

He threw his hands in the air. “Okay, baby. Whatever you say.”

“Yes, and one very important rule, both of us will answer calls and texts from the other one…always. I don’t want you to ignore me when it suits your purpose to be silent.”

“Hey, this is new for me too. But I’ll try to work on communicating better with you. Anything else?”

She chewed her lip and finally shook her head. “No.”

“Then I have a few rules of my own.”

She blinked. “You do?”

“This isn’t a one-way street, sweetheart. If you have so many rules, I ought to have some too.”

She blew out a breath. “Sure, let’s hear them.”

“My family, my past and my issue with Dev is something you will never ask about.”

“But—”

“—no buts.”

She rolled her eyes. “What else?”

“Don’t ask me to take you to my home. I can’t.”

“Can’t or won’t?”

“Both.”

Hurt flickered in her eyes. She lowered her lashes hiding it from him. Clasping her cheeks in his hands, he raised her face to look at him.

“This is not about you,” he said gently. “This is about me and my inability to bring anyone into my life because of the promises I’ve made.”

“Fine, just don’t hurt me, okay?”

He caressed her cheeks with his thumbs, loving the softness of her skin. “Don’t fall for me then.”

She glared at him. “Arrogant goats-arse.”

“Goats-arse?” he chuckled. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard that one before. Did you just make it up?”

“Yes,” she snapped. “Don’t think too highly of yourself. I’m not going to fall for you.”

There, this was the hellcat he knew. Her smart mouth and cheeky attitude were back. Her eyes sparkled again, just as he’d wanted them to.

She put her hands on his, scalding him with her warmth. “In fact, it may just be the other way around. You may just end up falling for me. What willyoudo then?”

Hell no. He couldn’t allow that to happen, no matter that his heart and brain both very much liked that idea.

She gave him a naughty smile.

“Vihaan Rajpoot, I think you’re more in danger of falling for me.” She waved an imaginary wand over his head. “Beware, I’m a witch and I’m putting a hex on you. From here on and forth, you will be utterly charmed and enticed by me and only me. You will do exactly as I say.”

He chuckled. God! She said the funniest of things. She was truly adorable.
